Could be a kid at the household who tried to use his Dad's callsign to buy a radio of his own, then couldn't get the money and panicked. Fries in fright every time you call! Not sure, but could be.

I would be upset too if I turned down other offers on the basis of this person's committment to buy the unit. It is my feeling that wuch an offer is a verbal contract and may be legally binding. I think you were unduly harsh on this poster. Tom KB5DPE

Personally, I would chalk it up to "one of life's experiences" dealing with dead beats.
Fortunately for you, no money changed hands, or equipment was shipped prior to receiving money.
I usually give the buyer a "reasonable" amount of time to get the money to me (I set an agreed to date). It ain't here, it goes to the next potential buyer, who's call I retain in memory so in case it falls through, you can call the next guy in line.
Something you might consider in the future!
