Amateur Radio Military Appreciation Day (http://www.armad.net)
Amateur Radio operators accross the United States expressed thanks and appreciation to Veterans and Active Duty Troops during Military Appreciation Monday. #
Many people gathered at Golden Corral Restaurants nationwide as Veterans, and Troops were given words of thanks, and appreciation over Amateur Radio for serving in the Military and protecting our freedom. #Many locations accross the country had the opportunity to experience Amateur Radio operations as Amateur Radio Clubs set up stations on location to give the public the opportunity to express thanks live on the air. #As Amateur Operators called CQ, patrons of the event were able to see and hear Amateur Radio at work.
Many of the guests stopped by the radio station and spoke third party, while others simply were amazed at seeing Ham's working other locations accross the United States, and the World.
The public and management were very pleased to have this addition to Military Appreciation Monday. #It gave the public a chance to witness first hand what Amateur Radio is all about, and many were amazed at how amateur radio worked.
ARMAD is dedicated to expanding public awareness of our hobby, and showing LIVE support to our Troops, and Veterans. #As a result of demonstrating our hobby many people have expressed an interest in Amateur Radio.
The Fort Wayne event was suprised by a visit from three Amateur Radio operators from the Monroe Amateur Radio Club, Monroe, Michigan. # Tim Rehahn/kc8zti, Mike Magoon/kd8bus, and Gordon Magoon/kd8cdp drove over two hours to experience the event at Fort Wayne, Indiana. #We had a great time, and provided a wonderful and fulfilling public service.
Many thanks goes out to all of the Amateur Radio Clubs, and operators that helped make the event a success. #Some locations braved cold weather, and rain to serve the public.
Visit www.armad.net to learn more about ARMAD and how you can get involved. #Let's "Ham It Up For The Troops", and grow our hobby.
