For all you I can beet the Parking System Types, this is one system that can not be beat, not RF from a transmitter, the old wooden nickle attached to a string trick or it's not working officer routine.

They converted to tickets which you stick in your windshield here in '99. The tickets can be bought by cash or major credit card and there's 3 or 4 on every block. Sounds a bit simpler than this new system. No PDAs needed, the Parking Agent just looks in the window.

From what I understand, BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) has instituted parking fees in some of its more popular stations to try and ease some of the budget pain they are seeing.

They installed similar ticket machines, and I think if you buy a large value ticket from the main office, you can buy a monthly pass for parking also. The fee I think is something like a dollar a day, but there are a few thousand cars in some of those lots. They don't charge on the weekends.

There are some entrepreneurs around these stations though that have been running private lots and charging $5 a day. These lots fill pretty quickly.

Seems like the 'buy a ticket and put it in the window' system would be the way to go. Time is clearly printed on the ticket, so there is no worry if the clock in the old meter goes a bit faster than the meter states, etc etc.

I'm still waiting for the 'barcode' licence plates like they have in a lot of these futuristic movies though http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

What govs won't do to collect more money. We already pay for the streets. Why do we have to pay to park. NOT HERE. We have no parking meters. If we do, I will move higher up into the hills.

I am for voting all politicians out of office. Cheaper that way.

Thats the best idea I have heard in a long time. Perhaps we can just eleminate the positions and downsize.
