View Full Version : Fule Prices -- Supply and Demand
Durham NC Mini-Mart owner who refused to raise his prices as dictated by the distributor (http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/news/local/12869768.htm)
Quote[/b] ]Cooper's lawsuit, filed Friday, charges that representatives of Mebane-based McLeod Oil Co. pressured Steven M. Grover, the owner of the A&P Mini Mart in Durham, to immediately raise gas prices Sept. 28 by 40 cents a gallon. The lawsuit claims operators of other stations supplied by McLeod were upset with Grover's low prices.
In an affidavit, Grover said McLeod told him his prices needed to be "in the ballpark" of those charged by other stations. Grover declined and learned later that night that McLeod had padlocked the store's pumps, which McLeod owned.
Another story here.
State sues gas distributor (http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/2814178p-9260243c.html)
I have never witnessed so many gas stations with the same price of fuel as far back as I can remember. And the station owners are all singing the same song, it's not us -- it's the distributor.
I know Kansas, Missouri and several other states are investigating these issues. Will be quite interesting to learn what they find (and what they can do about it.)
Either way, the damage is done.
I'm doing my part. #Since my car was totalled last February, I have not driven an automobile. #No car payments, no gastank fillups ! # Haven't you just seen the price of both automobiles and gasolene come tumbling down ? ? ?

My wife says I fart so much at night, there shouldn't be a natural gas shortage either.
But alas, doesn't look like the prices will reflect it. Course, all my natural gas does is serve as an annoyance to her!

Think we should just stick some hoses into the appropriate places in cows (sorry tom) and use the Methane.

Gas prices sloooooowly dropped from an all time high of $3.19 to $2.29 locally.
Sinclair is currently building a new refinery in Tulsa. Hopefully, this will be the start of a trend.
God bless Mr. Grover and Mr. Cooper, the North Carolina State Attorney General. I hope the other oil companies will pay attention to this lawsuit.
These prices went far beyond greed.

Don't feel bad CGC, looks like not only have I been spelling that one wrong but I always thought was gasoline with an "i" not an "e".
Better be carefull, we could end up as the examples used to get the whole private school voucher program on it's feet. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

There is no fule like an old evaporated fule.
Gas costs $2.959 per gallon regular here in Commack. L.I. That is down by 4 cents from what it was two weeks ago.
There don't seem to be any lines waiting at the gas pumps.
Supply and demand seem to be working ever so slightly but we won't see gas get below $2.75 this year in my opinion.

I stopped just outside of summit point to get some FULE the other day. #The price was a full 10 cents a gallon lower than it is here, 30 miles away. #Why are FULE prices in Virginia different in different parts of the state? #The official answer used to be that FULE was blended differntly for different areas. #BS, the answer now seems to be no answer at all.
Besides, the oil companies could repair the refineries very quickly if they wanted to, they just aren't that complicated.

There's your answer. Oil companies don't want to produce and sell, so just find, transport, and refine your own FULE product. When you've done that, sell to a low bidder. It is easy, so get off of your rear and stop complaining.

Blend, schmend. Gasoline for California, is blanded differently than for other states. That can't account for the regional differnces within California, though. Not ten miles from where I live, a gas station was charging $3.09 for a gallon of regular Friday, and a different one 20 miles more down the highway just $2.74 . Gas stations tend to charge whatever they can get away with before business falls off.
The high priced one was in a resort area where people were already paying $$ for wine tours and bed & breakfasts; these folks don't much notice gas prices.

Strangely, if fule prices are the same at a station as most other stations then that is seen as evidence of collusion. If fule prices are higher at that station then that is seen as evidence of monopoly power.

as of yesterday...Franklin county Alabama...
parade brand...$2.56 per gallon
walmart gas station....$2.52
Lawrence county Alabama
vulcan station..................$2.59
most every one else around $2.60 ~ $2.70 or higher
The higher priced places tend to have empty parking lots and no one at pumps..cheaper priced places are a LOT busier ( common sense )..............so if you want the business, you have to lower the prices (duh )
or go to Tennessee and participitate in the lottery..drawing tonight at 10 pm for $340 million
If a new governor would guarantee -- state lottery he would get my vote...............otherwise keep in office the person we already have.
That is my story and I am sticking to it.
( no one is forcing you to participitate in the lottery so you dont HAVE to if you dont wanna )

The U.S. needs to start mass transportation. The only problem with this is that people don't live in the cities anymore. They live in the country, or in suburbs. People here have to drive where they go. Expecially in the country.
But it's a privilige. Just ask the State and Feds and that Honda dealer with 40 Accords and some Fule. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
