The Atheist Professor


Two things Navy SEALS are always taught:

1. Keep your priorities in order
2. Know when to act without hesitation

A college professor, an avowed atheist and active in
the ACLU, was teaching
his class. He shocked several of his students when he
flatly stated that
for once and for all he was going to prove there was
no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "GOD, if you are
real, then I want you to

knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15
minutes!!!!!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin
drop. Ten minutes went
by. "I'm waiting God, if you're real, knock me off
this platform!!!!"

Again after a few more minutes, the professor taunted
God saying, "Here I
am, God!!! I'm still waiting!!!"

His count down got down to the last couple of minutes
when a NAVY SEAL, just

released from the Navy after serving in Afghanistan
and Iraq and newly
registered in the class, walked up to the Professor.
The SEAL hit him full
force in the face, and sent the Professor tumbling
from his lofty platform.

The Professor was out cold!! The students were
stunned and shocked. They
began to babble in confusion. The SEAL nonchalantly
took his seat in the
front row and sat silent. The class looked at him and
fell silent...
waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to and was noticeably
shaken. He looked at
the SEAL in the front row. When the professor
regained his senses and could
speak he asked: "What the hell is the matter with
you?! Why did you do
that!?"

"God was really busy protecting America's soldiers,
who are protecting your

I can appreciate the story, but, sorry to say, it's just words. In the story, you can place a Marine, Air Force, Coast Guardman, Army... whoever you like and this fable works just as well. But it's just a story. Nothing like that has ever happened.

To OES:

It's the SOLDIER... er... "elitest" who is in a foxhole, defacating and urinating in his uniform, praying to GOD that he lives to see his daughter grow up, dodging bullets and bombs in some Godforsaken desert- NOT the stateside AF clerk with the cushy desk job. That's the reason these "elitest" are used in this fictional story. It is they who are the REAL HERO"S. Not you and damn sure not me.

I would just LOVE for you to spend ONE DAY doing what these "elitist" do out in the desert or in any other war. You probably be begging to go back to your Cindy Sheehan meetups. You would be what a harden Combat Marine would call a "NON HACKER".

BTW, some US Navy Corpmen are directly attached to a Fleet Marine Combat forces. The Marine Corps uses US Navy Corpmen for the care of their wounded IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE. They are REQUIRED to wear the uniform of the US Marine Corps except they have a "crow" instead of "stripes" to indicate their rank. They are just some more "elitest" you need to be familiar with and be thankful for.

Infantry Marines are traditionally called "Grunts". Army infantry are traditionally called "Dog faces".

How do I know this? I'm a former Aviation Support Equipment Technician #(AS) First Class (E-6) who served proudly in the US Navy from 1979-1991. During my tour I have worked around every branch of the military except Army. But I have a very dear Combat Vietnam Veteran friend of mine who is a former Army and has earned a Bronze Star.

As the flood waters were rising around the old saint's house, a couple of neighbors came over to her and said, "come away with us, before your house gets flooded!" " Oh, no! I'll be OK, you will see God will take care of me!"

A while later, as the waters started creeping into the 1st floor of her house, a couple of guys in a Hummer drove through the rapidly rising waters, and the same dialog occurred!

Finally, the water was up to her roof, and two men in a boat came by to pick her up, with the same conversation taking place.

Finally, the old saint was standing before God in Eternity, and rather disappointedly asked Him why He hadn't taken care of her, like she expected Him to do.

"Why didn't I take care of you? " asked God. "Well, I sent some neighbors, a couple of guys in a Hummer, and some others in a boat to pick you up! Why didn't you escape when you had those chances ? "

Now I remember reading something in the Bible about those who claim to speak for God and God never spoke to them. Maybe someone can remember where it's written, I'm not a thumper who can spout chapter and verse (and often get it wrong).

A thiest is one who believes in a god, so what then is athiest but a problem with pronunciation?
