Subject: Marconi Kestrel III radio transmitter
Hello,
I work for a film production company called APT. We are currently making a
documentary feature film about the 1968 non-stop round the world sailing
race, the Golden Globe. We have borrowed a Marconi Kestrel III radio
transmitter (which would have used on similar yachts at the time) from a
member of the Radio Officers Association, to use in the film.
However, we do not know how to operate the machine, and need both a power
adaptor (from 240V AC to 110V DC) and help making it work!
I have spoken to the Vice-President of the Chelmsford Amateur
Radio Society, Charles Shelton, who has informed me that there may not be
anyone in the society who is familiar with marine radios. However, he suggested
that I could post some kind of message to be sent round the society, to
ask if anyone knows how to operate Kestrel III's and/or if one of your
members has a transformer.
Would it be possible to send out some kind of notice about this?
We are currently in production on this film, and therefore our need to
get this radio working is fairly urgent! I would be most grateful
therefore if you could let me know as soon as possible whether you can help us.
Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you,
Anna Mohr-Pietsch.
