Having seen I-Link being demostrated on a fellow Hams computer, I went home, downloaded I-Link, installed the software and filled in the data required.

On first use, you have to be validated to use the server to which you are told, this could take up to an hour....

10 days later, still no validation,

Can you beat my on-going record of 10 days?

Yes, been waiting since the day after my call was replaced via the vanity system (April 6). Not sure why there is a problem, spoke live last weekend to one of the five "helpers" that validate calls and he could not get it fixed although he made a noble effort. I suspect at this point I am not going to get validated.

eQSO is an alternative. No validation required and everybody seems very well behaved despite the lack of a policeman. While it is possible that an unlicensed party can jump on a distant repeater, it seems to be more of a theoretical problem at this point.

One thing, make sure you have your firewall opened up on UDP 5198 & 5199 and TCP 5200. If you don't have the correct firewall holes, the iLink system will have a hard time "seeing" you.

I registered with an obvious 'fake' callsign and got validated in ten minutes. #At least I had the decency to ID with my REAL callsign so I didn't violate any rules. #Unfortunately there is a serious loophole in this system, and "White Lightnin'" that uses the CB can get on any time he/she wants and talk anywhere they like without taking the test!! #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Hey, why not take the code out of the Testing Elements AND the questions, too!
