Hi I have a TS-680 kenwood and although I have the infor on how to open it up to all modes the porblem is that all the mods are to the signal board... i don't monkey around and guess so what i'm looking for is a digram of where the signal board is located on this transceiver so that i don't make a mistake. Thanks

You are correct, this is a "receive only" mod, lest anyone jump on your throat.
(It's interesting; the squelch on [at least most] Kenwood HF rigs only work in the "FM" mode, but the squelch works on all modes in their TS-790 VHF/UHF all-mode radio!)

When you "unbotton" the radio, (by removing the top and bottom covers, and the screws from the rear heatsink, (take your time finding the proper screws) the "control unit" will on the bottom of the unit. (Look for the places for the optional Computer interface in the rear left corner as viewed from the bottom, front facing you. [Look for CN8 and CN9 connectors [for the computer interface] in middle of the rear of the board for ID purposes. THAT's the control unit.)
If you need more help, post back here and I'll get out the service manual over the weekend. GOOD LUCK.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong mod. When you open the unit, front facing you, the SIGNAL UNIT will be on the LEFT. Or so says the Service manual.
