View Full Version : Woman 'locked away for 25 years'
A 43-year-old Indian woman has been rescued after officials said
she had been locked up by her family in a single room for more than 25 years. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4230614.stm)
Sounds similar to the case in Los Angeles in the early 70's. Couple kept their daughter chained to a toilet seat and had her sleep in a cage all her life. Neighbors did not even know they had a daughter till she was discovered at the age of 13.
Just in case you weren't sure if there were a lotta sick MOFOS in this world.... Yeesh...

I just heard on TV this morning that a foster home was found with a number (eleven I believe I heard) of children, aged one month through 14 years. The children were found confined in individual 40'x 40" cages.
The sickness out there exceeds even what I saw in 24 years working in the state prison. Maybe that's just because I never paid attention to why those guys were incarcerated. My sanity depended on not knowing. The ones I did know . . . ugh.

You beat me to it, Chris. That's just about 100 miles north of my QTH. Eleven children ages 1 - 14, all with special needs, some autistic, confined in cages without even pillows! In this case, the bastards are the foster parents.

I never have, never think I want to seriously hurt someone that isn't directly attacking me or mine.
But people that do these things to children are an exception. I wonder what this 12 gauge WOULD do to them... hmmm...

My Mom told me about a few cases like this when she was a young girl (1930+) growing up in the USA. #It seems that some folks back then were ashamed if they had a child born with a mental affliction or severe deformity. # They believed that God was punishing them for their wickedness (real or imagined). #The children were usually cared for but were kept in the attic, a locked bedroom or even in a shed out of the public eye. #The rest of the community generally ignored the situation but could be counted upon to render a scathing comment or two as to why that family deserved to have such a child.
Thankfully today's society is more understanding and families having children with special needs are no longer stigmatized.
I suspect that the case in India is because of an attitude similar to ours in the 1930's.

The horrors against humans, committed in the name of religion, by far overshadow those committed by the most hardened and inhumane criminal in prison.
