You think Amateur Radio stuff costs too much now? #Well just wait!

Check this out and tell me you think an organization like this will be good us or them:

Any coincidence where "the buck starts"?

Oh yeah, if they are going to double the Ham population in five years.where are they going to find all those millionaires? cc

Just what we really need. More inexperienced operators duncing around on the bands.

Frankly, I see it being populated by very few members. Afterall, I suspect most would choose to either be ARRL members or AARE members, not both but in limited numbers.

Suspect this may die on the vine.

Better brush up on your Vernacular; "Break 19, breeeeeeeeeeeeeak breaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak"

I was wondering when something like this was going to happen.
This thing reeks somewhat of local civic organizations that are
susposed to look out for the general population, but end up being
run by ali babbah and his forty thieves. Better get out wallets boys
I see price fixing on its way

I read the AARE press release and unless I missed some thing this appears to be a trade group representing the Manufactures, and Dealers which as I see it might open a door for Ham operators to get the word directly to the manfactures about the kind of gear Hams would like to have, instead of the gobbledeegook one radio fits all with comprmised spec's that is being pushed onto the new unsuspecting ,non-technical Hams of today. Maybe pressure can be put on the manfacturer to finish the Engineering #on a piece of gear BEFORE it is released to the public.
As one of the Editors of QRZ pointed out so well, the US and Hams in particular have a unique way of making Lemonade.
I,as a Life Member of ARRL see this AARE organization as little competition to the ARRL ,but a little competition is always healthy for both groups.
Ham Radio may have been reduced down to "only a hobby" but we should try to enjoy what is left before even that is denied us.
In the words of that great American Philospher,
" We have met the Enemy, and he is us "
