Sorry, but for those of you who know ANYTHING at all about test equipment:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/H-P-Oscilloscope-model-180A-with-1801A-and-1821A-used_W0QQitemZ7502364297QQcategoryZ104247
QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem" target="_blank">maybe more than new price</a>
To put this in perspective, the thing was made before 1970, probably is "about" a 50 mhz scope, and you can probably buy one (if you have to have one) at any hamfest for 20.00. I just bought one of the "upright" models for parts for 10 bucks.

Now I know why I never go to EBAY.

Don't "dis" E-Bay. Remember, E-Bay does not set the price on this stuff. For that matter, neither does the seller. It is the BUYER who determines what price an item is going to go for!
If you don't think the price is fair, you just don't bid on the item. Simple as that ! Furthermore, this particular auction is a "make an offer" auction. This indicates to me that the seller fully doesn't expect to get that kind of money for that item.
Go ahead, offer him what you think the scope is really worth. You just might be surprised, and end up with a scope! I promise, I won't bid against you !

I do moe better at yard sales. One comming up in a few hours.
Last week I got FREE a microwave oven and a HiFi stereo receiver/amp. And a good cassette tape deck for $2. Hard to beat the prices. Ebay move over.

I like the yard sales too. I buy stuff there and sell it on Ebay to people who are more than willing to pay way more for things than I did.

So he's shipping it from Pompano Beach, FL, and he specifies $44.50 for shipping, but it'll be higher to Alaska (understandable), Hawaii (ditto), APO (again ditto) -- and Nevada (this one I don't get). California, Oregon and Washington are farther from FL than Nevada.

I don't know how long ago that o'scope was placed on eBay, but I know it's been there for over 24 hours. I don't know how much time is left on the auction but he hasn't received a single bid. Now he's taking "best offers".. He wants more for shipping that the 'scope is probably worth..
Makes me wonder what turnip truck he fell off of... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

KM5FL,
That was what caught my eye,the shipping alone is more than 3 times what the scope is worth. Not to mention it is an HP scope.
I posted a little saying that stuck with me from the ole days on another topic,the ole timers used to say;
"HP never made a scope, and #Tektronix never made a signal generator".
I have found there is more FACT than Fiction in that little saying. # #

Amen to that!
But HP made one helluva spectrum analyzer (492), and Tek made ALL the Scopes.
