The following is information on how to volunteer for Katrinia Incident Assistance. Please work with your local staffs and read the information prior to registering.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings,

As Joe mentioned earlier in a message he relayed from South Texas SEC Jerry Reimer, a Web page has been established to help register those radio amateurs wishing to prepare and assist with Katrina-relief efforts in
Louisiana and Mississippi.

Approval has been received to help spread the word about this registration page.

HURRICANE KATRINA DISASTER COMMUNICATIONS VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION & MESSAGE TRAFFIC DATABASE

http://katrina.ab2m.net/

Thank you and 73,
Steve, WV1X

Thanks

What is a mail hijacking? That's a new one to me...

Phishing?

Because of your edit, I had to edit this one http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I still don't get what a mail hijacking would be, though...

I have always been able to recieve mail to that addy ,but I had never published it .
I had never actually recieved any mail to that addy before.

I just wanted to find out if any one else had similiar issues.

I found it interesting that the site had no place to research for needs within Louisiana
I guess they wrote off New Orleans as being beyond help ?
I sent an email to the webmaster of that site but have not seen a reply.
I looked in my spam filter service and saw nothing there either.

I was pointed to this thread by someone concerned that somehow registrations at katrina.ab2m.net or rita.ab2m.net might somehow result in spam, trojan horses, etc.

Allow me to set the record straight:

I run those databases as a public service for the Amateur Community. I do not provide ANYONE with the information from that site EXCEPT those who are authorized to query it (which right now is limited to ARRL Section Managers, Section Emergency Coordinators, and certain HQ Staff).

I can't say for certain why you are suddenly getting viruses except for the fact that many of them email themselves to those in compromised victim's address books.

If you have any questions about the database or how the data within is protected, feel free to email me at ab2m@ab2m.net. (And trust me, I get my share of the same nonsense)

Are you referring to rita.ab2m.net or katrina.ab2m.net?

There is no place on those sites to research any needs - only to register your availability.

I try to answer all email I receive quickly. If you sent email to me and I did not respond, I probably did not get it.
