If Money were no Object, and you have only 1 of the 2 radios (IC-7800 or FTDX-9000D).
Which would you Choose and Why?

None, I don't need all the features.

I would opt for the Icom seems they have less problems with most of their radios and if there is a problem turn around time is very much quicker than Yaesu !!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

IC-7800 = $10,500

IC Pro 3 plus IC PW1 = $8000. This would be my first choice. So I pick C.

I'm using an IC756PRO now, and I would like to test the IC-7800.

The new Yaseu radios seems nice, but I hate the fact that they will come in three four different models.

So my choice is IC-7800.
Although, I would need an extra $10.000 for antennas to defend my ROI.

I use IC -780 and IC -756 PRO. I want to try to use IC -7800 experimentally.
Of course I think that FTDX -9000 D is very splendid.
I hear that a function is added to most when receiver ability is good both.
Both think that I am splendid, but can hardly obtain it.

The Yeasu FTDX9000, without a doubt. It just has that radiant Yaesu beauty to it.

I'll take the Kenwood TS-850S it beats both of the new rigs and You could buy 10 at either IC-7800 or FTDX-9000 http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I'd take the FTDX-9000MP. I'd had all the money in world, if I was a wealthy man

No rig is worth the asking price of these radios

Anybody want to send me one each of these units. I could then test both of them and report my findings on this thread.

I would also return the one I liked the most.

Promise.

Send them to me and I will change my call, my name, my date of birth, move to new QTH, grow a beard, stay off 20 phone, go to church every Sunday, take out the garbage, walk the dog, send envelopes to the buro, eat broccoli, give up chocolate and various donuts, give up alcohol, QSL everyone I ever work, remember my wife's birthday and our anniversary, get my code speed up to a solid 30 wpm, learn how to diagram a Colpitts oscillator,
quit using DX Summit, quit using DX nets, give out real signal reports in contests...uh...ummm...ok...give me a minute here...

Neither.

I'd buy an Orion and put the rest of the money into the antenna system.

Smart.

I was wondering how long it would take before I found this post.

Myself..

I would tend to think the Icom IC-7800 is better..

i do like how one can use true broadcast quality mikes with the yaesu 9000..

however i do not think the yaesu is as good a recieve as the icom i...
dislike how yaesu's use AB1 biasing..when yaesu gives a power figure it is in C biasing...the AB1 biasing is far less power (at best halk)..

i would like to see Icom IC-7800 with ability to add true broadcast quality mikes..

but then...

Icom IC-7800 $10,500
Broadcast quality mike $5,000 to $12,000
Icom Linear $8,000

Dang gone it...need a couple of towers and really big antennas $60,000 to $100,000

ah well...
is well past me...lol

Ten-Tec Orion II. Half the cost and twice the receiver. I'd use the extra money I saved to put up bigger antennas.
