A story tonight on WRAL-TV/DT in Raleigh, NC featured information on amateur radio. This was spawned by an Operator here that informed them about the Hurricane Watch Net, and emergency comunications. #The story also featured how CC&Rs can effect our ability to operate.

When WRAL posts the video file I will put a link on here

That's great!
It's always nice to see Amateur Radio helping out http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
(not to mention also to see awareness spread)

Our local TV did ham radio a tremendous dis-service, by mentioning all the "bloggers" that were posting text and pictures on their web-sites, but not mentioning one word about any of the ham radio "health and welfare" nets that are in operation even as I write this!

Makes me mad to think that we have to be taking a back seat to services that are so prone to failure when "the lights go out" !

73, and keep up the good work, guys and gals, even if your efforts are un-recognized !

Here is the addresshttp://www.wral.com/video/4914027/detail.html

I think it was a pretty good story, although it was kind of short.

Watch it I think it was pretty informational.

HOT DAMN!

About time the media recognizes us. I spent three hurricanes running EmComm last year in FL and the media never recognized us or even mentioned us so muc has once.

This makes me VERY happy to see. Thank you for posting it.

That is great. KWTX-TV out of Central Texas (www.kwtx.com) ran a story on the local efforts here. Basically the Texas State Guard Amateur Radio club is out of this area, and the Texas State Guard is in Orange, TX (where supplies are being sent, I suppose these supplies will be taken to New Orleans and that area). Anyhow, Leon Cheney, K5ZZM out of Waco, TX is the net control for the TSG net that is going on right now. TSGARC is passing traffic aswell to those around Texas who had loved ones in the hit areas.

The story was great, except for the CB pictured in the image before the story. I emailed them to let them know, I wonder if they will even read it. They don't have the story online at this time.

great story. I like that beside the video frame that says in big red letters "Ham Radio Operators Are Vital During A Hurricane"

Great story, and good exposure. We need more of that.
