Some of those who stated they support the troops but not the war are starting to show their true colors. #LIP SERVICE & NO ACTION. #I am starting to hear faint rumblings here in the military community of some eyebrow raising, but not so surprising statements by "joe citizen" to our fellow service members.
Notice I say SOME at the beginning. #There are those who truly do support the troops but do disagree with this conflict in Iraq. #Those folks haven't been the problem. #It's those who just use it to cover their true origins and intentions. #They are aleady starting to expose themselves.
But it will become a growing trend, just watch in the coming months and the next year or so.
So what is it "joe citizen" is saying?
They're now starting to turn on the troops and call them baby killers. #I could care less if there are people wanting to compare this to Vietnam. #What I find annoying is the phoney's just going off of lip service. #So from this member of the Armed Forces. #I have this one request based off a famous well-used quote for a lot of different statements. #You say you support us...
"Put your money where your mouth is."
No, I am not asking you to send money but you know what I mean.
BTW... #I am going to be heading to Iraq sometime soon. #Can't say when, but the departure day is approaching and I'll be there for a while. #I cannot say what I will be doing though, until I get back. #Other than leaving my wife and two young children behind, I look forward to heading over there.
IF something happens to me, I have requested my wife to notify either Fred or Glen via e-mail or come up under my login id and have her let you guys know. #I do intend however to make back home safe and in one piece though.

During a good bit of the Vietnam conflict, I was nothing but a twinkle in my parents eyes. I arrived in this world within a couple of years of pulling out in 75.
I don't know if I would call it being worried about what they think, just how they're turning on us now and it's growing.
Chad,
Joe Citizen supports our troops 100%, but does not make a lot of noise about it. #
A few freaks and weirdo's like Hanoi what's her face do not speak for the country, but are quite vocal for their small numbers. #Controversy makes news, so you hear the controversy, not what average people think.

Hey Chad,
For what it's worth, and maybe it's not worth enough, most everyone I know appreciates the work being done over there. A relative of mine was in Iraq as a Marine Corps MP, and he signed up to go BACK. With all the craziness over there, I was puzzled by that choice -- He put in his time, did his duty, and returned safely. You would think that would be so much MORE than "enough."
But dig this -- He felt he was doing a lot of GOOD over there, and felt that important work was being accomplished. Can anyone think of a better example of someone "putting their money where their mouth is?"
Chad, thanks for your service. Stay safe, and give us the full report when you get back.

Chad,
Don't let the liberal/socialist Cindy Sheehan crowd get to you. She has disgraced her son, her marriage, and is supported by MANY liberal/socialist news groups, George Sorros, and posts on # # # # # # # # # # # # ## # #Michael Moore(on)'s Internet web site. They are RUNNING her since she isn't smart enough to run this kind of "protest" herself.
I wish you God's Speed on your safe return home. Let us know the REAL STORY over there, since we can't get any fair news from the liberal/socialist propaganda news media here.
Stay cool and stay safe, and most of all THANK YOU!!! You are one of America's finest, and we are very proud of you OM.

I have noticed a general trend of some people beginning to treat soldiers returning from Iraq in a similar manner to those soldiers who came home from Vietnam. The welcome those troops received was not warm. Some soldiers were spat upon, sneered at, and generally unwelcomed.
It seems that we can learn nothing from history.
Paul, N0JAA.
BTW, good luck in Iraq and come back to us in one piece! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Good Luck to you Chad and come back home safe and in one piece. As was stated before, those asshats are the vocal minority. We all hope to see you back at QRZ soon.
BTW, will you have an opportunity to get on the air from over there? If so, will you be able to post when you will be on the air on QRZ. I'd love to be near the radio just so I could hear you and any others you may contact state side. If all that's a no no then I hope to see you back on QRZ when you get back.
Good Luck, Thank You for your service and tell your family we all said Thanks too.

I know what it is like to be in the military family now, and I am both proud and sad that my dughter gave up her man to answer his call to duty. Her man is in theater now.

You KNOW how I feel about this war as far as the politics are concerned..
BUT...
I wish you and all those over there the very best because they are doing the job assigned to them, and NO ONE can ask any more than that...
You keep your head down, and your powder dry my friend, and I'll expect to see you back here on QRZ and once again reunited with your family very soon...

I remember you posting quite a few months ago that you were going over a few months ago also.
I am wondering how if you are active duty you havn't been sent yet but every reservist I know has been. You have been such a strong vocal supporter of this war I am surprised you haven't volunteered and "put your money where your mouth is" like you like to say.
Just seems funny that my 2 reservist's friends that don't support this war and have each spent over a year over there while you are active duty I presume and support it and are at home. I have never been in the Military so I guess I need some enlightening how that works.
However if you ever do make it to Iraq I fully support you as I do all the troops and pray for your safety. Like Harry said I don't support this war but I do support our troops as they are just doing their jobs for our country.

I don't know the situation currently, but in Feb. '04 after spending a year in Iraq, we received cheers all around at every airport we stopped at. Even non-American ones. We flew from Mosul, Iraq to Some airport in Saudi to Shannon, Ireland to Bangor, Maine then to Atlanta, GA. At every stop we were greeted by folks clapping and cheering us on as soon as we stepped off the plane. It was quite unexpected and really makes you feel good about what you're doing. I believe most Americans stand behind their soldiers.

EFA the "go" order hasn't been sent yet, but the "get yourself and your house in order because your time to leave is coming" word has.
BTW... My subordinate is there right now as we speak doing convoy duties. He has been gone almost 8 months and will have 9 under his belt once he gets back. He's already seen action being on the convoy details. Let's just say a vehicle and driver who had ill intentions towards his convoy is not alive and was tore apart with .50 cal rounds by that subordinate. I seen videos of what .50 cal rounds do to a human body. I will just go as far as to say "La Machine."
We're rotating to replace these guys, trust me. Why does it make any difference who makes it there before who. The bottom line is that personnel are doing their fair share of time there.
I would volunteer if I could, but there are regulations and guidelines set in place as to going. I can't just say to my leadership to get me over there. It has been 2 years since I have been over in that region. I was in Kyrgyzstan about this time 2 years ago.
Those days are over since I will potentially be back over that way in about a year or so. That is how it's getting with all the taskings coming down the pipe from DoD via CENTCOM and USCENTAF (Central Air Forces). I might see the same people who replace me as I replace them.
I have people wanting to trade with me so I could go later vs to go now. I have told them to take a number because I am going now anyway.
So bottom line EFA, I will put my money where my mouth is by going. I just ask (even if you don't agree with this conflict or the GWOT) folks give us the support by not acting the fool some are doing by reliving the Vietnam days and turning on the troops.

JUST TO CLARIFY A POINT EFA BROUGHT UP
I just want to clarify for everyone right now that I'm not leaving just yet, but I am going to go. Don't know when the order to go will come, but I know it will be soon. It was made clear by our E-9 (Chief MSgt) O-3 (Capt) and O-5 (Lt. Col) this was happening. So it's just the waiting game to go right now.
I will still post here for the time being. My time on the board may be a little less now than in times past. The reason is for getting ready to go. They are; spending time with my family, getting much needed housework (was put off) completed and getting my gear and some of my clothes staged to pack.
I will say, "see you later" when my time to go is about to commence. Thanks so much for the comments everyone has made. I will take them all with me and keep them in my heart.

Chad,
No reason to explain, most of us know how this works. My son has known 1st BCT, 10th Mountain was going to Iraq since last year. Guesses were anywhere from May to November. He was home the last two weeks in July and still didn't know, although they had been packing stuff for the last month. He gave me a call on Aug. 10th a few hours before they boarded the plane. That's when you know what's happening. BTW he's a Sgt in 1-71 Cav. MOS 19D.
Any country with 280 million people has to have a few clueless fools. They get a lot of media coverage but don't let it get you down. I support this war and all the troops fighting it. It has already started to change the Middle East in more profound ways then anything that has happened there in the last 50 years. Plus our two bigtime problem children, Iran & Syria, are presently surrounded on three sides by us and our allies. You can bet your butt those boys are not happy about that.
Thanks for your service and I'll keep you in my prayers.
73, Marty WB2RJR HHH#506
P.S. In 2003 when my son was in N.E.Afghanistan their fire base was attacked one night. A quick call and minutes later a couple of A-10s show up and blow the hell out of these guys. Lit up the whole mountainside. You guys are awesome!

Chad we know how it works. #Details and dates are kept obscure until the final moment. #We don't need our citizens leaking info to those who would thwart or harm our servicemen. Strictly a need to know basis. #Though not a servicemen myself, I am a Marine Dad. #I have been through this with my son who serves in a Marine Expeditionary Force. #Like the one that was fired on in Jordan yesterday, as it ported in route to the Middle East theatre. I know the Marines would say you guys are great, and they really depend on the CAS. #Thanks to all aspects of the Air Force, not just the pilots, who keep the Air Force up and running, # 24-7. #The A-10 is the infantry's friend indeed. #There is the more radical wing of the Democratic #Party that would like to turn this effort into a repeat of Vietnam, in fact their political futures depend on it. They will spare no dollars or effort to coinvince the public our brave troops are being shaghaied and sent to a senseless death. #They don't even recognize the meaning of volunteer, for that shatters the Vietnam analogy, instantly (not that there weren't plenty of voluteers in Nam). #But they will spend every second they can telling the media: #Vietnam, Quagmire, Vietnam,Quagmire. #Their hope is if they say it enough times it will be so. #They want to go back to the Halcyon days of their youth, marching arm in arm with their comrades, protesting against a war. #They want to vigil the enemy into submission. #But there are many more, who will not let our own people do that to the troops again. We won't let a few citizens and sympathetic media collaborators, force the U.S. to pull out of a won war again, nor make all those who fought and died, do so in vain. #The is not the same American public, nor is this anything like Vietnam. #This one's on our soil, AND worldwide. #And it's coming to a neighborhood near you, soon. #Thanks for helping on the front in Iraq. #Iran and Syria, will never see things the same way again. May your unit send many to their virgins. # # # # 73s # # # #Randy
Good luck Chad and you'll be in our prayers. Thank you for helping keep freedom alive.
