...And I will show you a dirty house. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Of all the brain dead antics, to EVEN think about this, makes you want to start looking for that surplus 106 MM Recoiless Riffle, a "mini gun" and have plenty of .50 caliber ammunition around just for protection. Read about what the treehuggers are thinking about doing now. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,166063,00.html)

This could become a huge concern for those who live in #portions of 5 and 0 land.

"Lions and Elephants, and Bears... oh my!" Were talk'n about Kansas also.

HEY COOL! Target Practice!

*gets his M60 ready*

Actually, in all seriousness, we do share the planet with these magnificent creatures. Now if one were to attack me, will I kill it if I'm able? Absolutely. But people need to remember, we encroached onto THEIR territory, not the other way around.

Thanks for posting that, Gary.

This article is a prime example of Fox "NEWS" bias. It takes the views of some theorists and tries to slam "ecologists" in general, whatever those are.

This is obviously a dumb idea. Fox "NEWS" takes it to the extreme by taking the brush to science in general under the term "ecologists". The article is framed to make it appear that "ecologists" everywhere support this idea, therefore implying ANYONE who supports something in the environmental movement is a nutcase.

That's truly idiotic. There haven't been any animals like that on this continent since the last Ice Age and man had nothing to do with their departure.

I don't see this ever actually happening.

I will bet if this came from See BS, the Communist News Network, The Guardian, or the BBC, you would feel differently.

I think you are seeing my point, even if you don't like where I got the news story.

There's nothing wrong with being good stewards of our planet within reason. But when treehuggers start burning down ski resorts, and getting their legs cut off from throwing themselves in front of locomotives, you gotta wonder about their mental stability.

No, I wouldn't. The article reports a dumb idea. The "spin" in the article is anti-science and environmentalist. "Ecologists"? I haven't seen that term used in the media since the '70's.

Not sure where you're getting this stuff from, but to tar and feather ALL people who have an interest in the environment like this Fox "News" article does is wrongheaded.

It's probably just an extension of the real proposal made some years ago (though not widely supported) to create the "Buffalo Commons" by returning big chunks of what have now become those prime red states in the high plains to the buffalo, since they are rapidly becoming depopulated of humans, anyway. The ranchers that remain there are drawing down the aquifer, which as far as science can determine, does not replenish itself at anything like the rate at which it is being consumed, so commercial farming may become impossible there in a decade or two, anyway.

They will still allow coyotes to register to vote in presidential elections, however.

It's just bad science-don't get me started on this one. #I'm hugely in favor of conservation and preservation, but not the kind cooked up by folks in city apartments. Those only know about the natural world, from what they see on the wildlife channel, should not be allowed input in these kind of decisions. If you think it's such a good idea to introduce lions, introduce them in New York City and Los Angeles first. #There's a good prey base and you would notice a serious new motivation among the street people. Suddenly finding a #away to afford a roof and locked door WOULD BECOME A PRIORITY!! The lions would thrive within a natural concrete canyon enviroment, well stocked with WILDlife, and soon their numbers would grow logrythmically. Oh boy!. #I MIGHT support a fenced, secured, wildlife preserve stretching along our entire S.W. border. #It could be stocked with African lions, hyenas, wild dogs. and Australian fresh water Crocs # When predator numbers exceeded the prey base, hunting permits could be sold to trophy hunters, culling numbers to acceptable levels. This would be enough to make the operation self supporting and at no cost to the taxpayer. Some border patrolmen would still be needed driving the rio Grande river banks, throwing road kill to the Crocs. Yeah, real great idea Ted Turner. #WX7B how bejeezus did you work FOX news into this one? #Got to hand it to you, your tenacious. #(There I go, using those third grade words again!)

Thanks for the lecture, Gary http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif but I stand by what I said previously.

Look at the way the article is structured and phrased. It's Fox "NEWS" at it's finest. I'll say again. They've taken a dumb idea and used one dumb idea to spam everyone involved in the environmental movement. You bought it, so others will too.

Give me a specific example of "liberal news media spin". We can deconstruct the comments made, and I'll give you my opinion.

Believe it or Not (I can say this. Ripley is buried in Santa Rosa) I agree that the mainstream media does spin things also. I just don't believe the spin is always "liberal", whatever that means this week. The mainstream media sure gave Reagan every possible break, but savaged Bush I and Clinton.

Letting the lions loose in Neuw Yawk has its brighter side. Thankfully the plan to loose Siberian Tigers on Alaska went down in flaming laughter as soon as it was floated.

The Bison we got? That worked nicely, and we have annual hunts.

Let's see... there was Dan Rather, and See BS Producer Mary Maples involved in some liberal/socialist propaganda campain to smear the President, otherwise known as "Memogate". And, Ms Maples was FIRED, which is what should have happen to Mr. Rather(biased), but all he got was "slap" on the wrist allowed to continue working for the liberal/socialist media propaganda machine known as SEE-BS.

SEE-BS. Liberal socialist propaganda at it's BEST.

For a compleat unabridged definintion of "Liberal", write or contact the following people:

J(ane) F(onda) Kerry
Ted "Chappaquidic" Kennedy
Michael Moore(on)
Hillary "My Husband cause the Towers to Fall" Klinton
Bill "Have A Cigar" Klinton
Nany "Sharp As A Beachball" Polosi a.k.a. Mrs Potato head.

Contacting anyone of those people can give you the new Progresive Liberal definintion for today. Good luck with #getting this "problem" resolved. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Going to Michigan next week. Got any restaurants you can recommend in Ann Arbor?

It would be interesting to analyze the different tones of the two stories. I notice it for sure. And it's a very stupid idea.

Restaurants - The Gandy Dancer is the expensive restaurant all the kids are supposed to get their parents to spring for, although I don't like sea food and that's what they're big on. There are several good places along Main St. - can't recall names - I didn't eat out much. My favorite bar there is Ashley's, but they don't have much food. There is a bar/restaurant with good burgers near the train depot but I can't remember the name. Oh, Cottage Inn pizza is good and has way more than pizza.

I miss Ann Arbor.

Yep, got sucked into the Gandy Dancer vortex.

It was good, but expensive. I liked the railroad ambience, though. We ate near the tracks, and a train came by. Loud!

My daughter took me to a steak place downtown which was really good too. I can't remember the name. Also the Mongolian BBQ. I was surprised at how good that was. Usually those places can be kind of greasy...
