He has been a terrible Governor. #He was ranked 49th out of 50 governors last year. #Even though Republican voters didn't like him they re-elected this loser anyway because he is Republican. #I think Ohio is finally going to wake up to the fact that Republicans in this state only bring failure and questionable ethics! College Education cost's in Ohio are way above norm since the State has cut funding.
Guys Guys,
What, a Republican being a crook? Surely you jest.
I mean, Come on, all the right wing zealots here on QRZ have been telling me that it is the Liberals that are the bad guys. You know, traitors, turncoats and un-american!!!
I have been told that it is the Liberals that are the bad guys.
Now you tell me that a republican, like George W. Bush is a crook? Who would have thought? ( well except for those of us that knew they were crooks all along)
Looks like one got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
( one of the MANY I might add)
Just like GWB, A terrible leader, Likes to lie, yet got elected again..... by the skin of his ... Teeth!
Thanks Dave and Bill!

nothing to spin Dave... go back and look at the archives, you will find that the very first time that EFA brought the subject up, I said that if he is guilty, he should do jail time.
Remember, that Taft is a member of the RINO Party of Ohio.
According to the news tonight, Taft had already paid back ANY questionable gift/fee when he "discovered the error". Now, since I think that Bob Taft is a democrat in a Republican suit, it would not surprise me. But since it is only an accusation, I will have to take a wait and see stance.
We had all hoped he would be the next Jim Rhodes. Sorry, you need to be from Ohio to understand that one.

Yea good spinning YS. #Bob TAft is Republican through and through. #His father even had the nickname "Mr, Republican". #
Bob TAft has embraced Big Business, cut education and social programs and funding for the environment. #Passed Tort reform favoring business and is a crook. #Sounds like a Republican to me!
How he got here:
Mr. Taft spent about $9 million on a television ad campaign that praised his work as governor. One ad criticized Mr. Hagan for, among other things, being an "unabashed liberal" who opposes the death penalty.
Mr. Hagan, who raised only $1 million for the race, never ran his own television ads, relying instead on an Internet campaign that never reached most Ohio voters.
Denny White, chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, said Mr. Hagan and other Democrats just couldn't compete in a year when Republicans spent more than $11 for every dollar spent by Democrats.
"Taft bought the governorship," Mr. White said. "Our statewide candidates worked hard, but the money Bob Taft, and (Republican Party Chairman) Bob Bennett raised with their money-laundering machine made it tough."
Taft's Money (http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2002/11/06/loc_governor06.html)
You get scumbags on both sides of the political arena.
Take Alaska's fine contribution to the Republican party- Frank Murkowski. He has a bad habit of ignoring the wishes of the people of this state and doing his own thing.
If they convict your guy in Ohio, you can have Frank.

Ughh... just like my crazy neighbors. They constantly flood the Letter's to the Editor section of the local newspaper, spewing hate and intolerance of any party other than their own.
That will be the death of America. Not the Liberals or Conservatives, but the vicious dislike of each other and the refusal to respect or to compromise with one another. The very essance of Democracy is in trouble.

Bob Taft is a liberal republican, a RINO.

The voters have a short memory, I'm afraid, and only a small percentage really pay any attention. I do think that the tide is turning in the opinion about the Iraq war, and that is not necessarily a good thing if it becomes a movement to pull out of the war.

Don't just blame republicans. #Anyone here remember Governor Jim "I'm a gay American" McGreevy who gave away the top secret homeland security job to his non-citizen gay lover?
(I am not homophobic, but this whole deal was screwed from jump and Jim was no republican.)

EFA--That's S-O-O-O-O mean spirited, I deliberately left out that your style is third grade, because I'm a nice guy. #Did you mean today's third graders, or the third graders of 1955? #If you meant the later, I will take it as a compliment; that my education level is that of a third grader in the pre-teachers union era. #Love will bring the world to peace. #Let's all try wearing a smiley face today!

Not changing subject, Dave, I was responding (elaborating) to another posters comment. I know absolutely nothing about this governor, so I will be unable to contribute on this subject. 73s Randy
Perhaps you guys have not heard, I know that I have a renewed respect for Bob Taft. I still think that his social plans are too far to the left, but he is a real "stand up guy'.
Here is why; Today, he appeared in court, he pleaded NO CONTEST to the four charges brought against him. He told the judge that he was not going to plead guilty be cause he is not, but he will plead no contest because he takes responsibility [this is UN HEARD OF in the Democratic Party!].
The judge fined him the maximum of $1000.00 per charge for a total of $4000,00.
All of this over $5800.00 and most of this was before a new law went into effect.
Taft's mistake was his employees that were supposed to keep track of these gifts. My bet, there will be some former state employees soon.
Now if only the democrats would be of such character.

Use a semicolon instead of a comma to join two independent clauses into one sentence. It should read :
'...repetitive "ands"; it's easier to read.'

I am glad you are so proud of him YS. #This is what happens when one party get's to much power like in the state of Ohio.
This "investigation" has to do with Taft's letting Tom Noe take 50 Million of Ohio's Workers Compensation money and invest it in rare coins and concealing contributions to President Bush! #Over 10 million was lost by investing with Noe!
The reason Taft was charged and convicted (the only Ohio Governor ever convicted of a crime in history) was he knowingly hid these contributions because of the people he received them from like Noe, the head of Nationwide Insurance, a half dozen Statehouse lobbyists, an executive whose construction company received millions in school facilities work, a bank vice-chairman, advertising and insurance company officials, real-estate developers, House Speaker Jon Husted and several state employees.
Quote[/b] ]
At least two of Taft’s golf outings were with Thomas Noe, the rare coin dealer accused of losing more than $10 million in investments at the Bureau of Workers Compensation. Noe also is under investigation by a Toledo grand jury for concealing campaign contributions to President Bush. Ongoing probes of Noe, a former member of the state Board of Regents and Ohio Turnpike Commission, has led to the discovery of more than $200 million lost by BWC investors in high-risk ventures.
Critics said the fact that Taft received unreported gifts is not the pressing issue. More troubling is the hours of one-on-one access to Taft received by lobbyists and others doing business with the state, according to Sen. Marc Dann, a Youngstown Democrat who sued Taft to get staff memos.
Cincinnati Enquirer (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050818/NEWS01/308180005)
Excerpt from a Taft speech at Xavier University three months ago:
Public employees can enjoy entertainment such as golf or dining out, with persons working for a regulated company or one doing business with the state, only if they pay their own way"
What a hypocrite!
EFA.... Bill, it is not MY fault that the democrat party in Ohio is a bunch of losers, whiney cry babies, and we have had ENOUGH of the Joel Hyatt's, Howard Metzembaum, Dick'em Celeste. John Gilligan, and John Glenn.
For this reason we TOLERATE RINO's such as Taft and Voinovich.

But wait a minute#here. #We have all been assured that homosexuality is something you're born with. #Yet, now we are being told, that a heterosexual male democrat, # changed from natural sexual behavior, #to sodomistic, aberated behavior. #Completely of his own volition!!! I am very confused. (No, I didn't mean confused that way). #I wish junk science would get it right for once. #Of course, then it would be called SCIENCE, wouldn't it?

So, DFP! Do you admit Taft is sleazy and deserving of punishment?
