OK, I understand the feds just passed, via Homeland Security, the new federal mandates for state driver's licenses.
Apparently your license will only be good for a maximum of 8 years and will not be renewable by phone or online. It is my understanding that you will not be able to apply for duplicate licenses online either.
OK fine, we will have to play by the new rules and this will mean more fees (as projected by the states) and lines at DMV than we already have.
This will still not stop the illegals pooring over our borders into this country.
Any documents you can produce can be reproduced, if the price is right.
Let's quit playing games and stop the problems at the border.

Yeah.. that will happen. With an administration that SUPPORTS illegal immigration on one side, and liberals on the other side that feel "illegal immigration" is a rascist term and shoudl be changed to "undocumented welfare recipients".

Oh crap, did I say that out loud? oops. Sorry.

Heck with the fees. Will make it damn interesting when you're traveling out of state and your license comes up for renewal.

Really feel bad for the folks in the military if the state has not made allowances for some type of grandfather or extention clause

You mean the feds, they are the ones that made the laws.
And I am sure there are a lot of things to work out. Here is AZ, after a certain age, your license was good until 65. Will that still be the case? I doubt it.
When I lived in CA I my license was renewed many times by mail automaticly because I did not get any tickets. (OK, lets ignore my youth, I got lots of them!)

As it stands now, there are extensions clauses. Active Duty military can keep an license from their home state for 90 days after they get out. I believe they don't have to renew them... forgot the deal there...
