I had the same problem with my 2100h and it was the alternator itself. It went out shortly thereafter, I replaced it and no noise. 1995 Geo Prizm. Note: I put a heavier output alternator from O'reilly's on it.

I have a 1993 Olds Bravada with, I think, the same V-6. I have the IC-2100H connected to the positive terminal block on the center rear of the engine compartment. The ground is also connected to the chassis close to this block. I have had no reports of alternator whine. To the contrary, another local ham has a 2100H and the alternator whine is horrible. Don't know what kind of vehicle, but he has done the same thing with RF chokes, etc, with no change in signal quality.

I've run my 2100H in my Plymouth Voyager for more than a year...no problems with alternator whine at all.

I have a 1987 Chrystler Fifth Ave. Same problem here, I have used chokes, noise suppressors, the works. I got it to a bearable minimum, but the whine is there and I just deal with it until someone finds a miracle cure?

Have used an IC-2100 in a Chevy Malibu for about 13 months--- so far no indication of alt whine either on
rcv or xmit.

I had the same problem on my IC-2100H in my 1998 Ford F150. Come to find out that it isn't the alternator but fuel pump in the tank it runs up and down as the
demand goes. When I used a magnet mount I didn't get
any whine. When I went perm and got into the chassis
ground I noticed this whine. I got a kenwood PB3G I think it is dc inline filter it fits the icom cable and plugs
right in. Problem solved.

I have a new license and new IC2100H and both are working great! #The IC2100 installed without any problems at all. #I have no alternator whine (I put it in a Toyota Corolla) and I don't think that the mic is that bad (as opposed to some comments I've read).

I have the Icoms in three cars, no problem. I wire directly to the battery, maybe this helps. Or maybe, just lucky. A great rig. Try the computer programming. tom.

got three of these little rigs no problems yet but one rode on a atv 4 wheeler for a year w/ no problem i had one with a whine but the battery was bad in a '95 chevy blazer. replaced the battery and the wine went away.

by the way the battery is the best place to hook up all radios after all is the battery is the best filter you can get in a car and if by chance you do not think so unhook the battery w/the car running and listen to all audio producing radios yaal ill c
