I'm thinking maybe the movie FREQUENCY was a documentary. Or maybe I'm just the proud owner of a gifted Heathkit HW-8. But there I was, merrily copying some CW QSO's when suddenly I hear Hank Williams, Roy Orbison and yes, even the King himself. Now I know 20 meters has been good for DX lately, but that's a bit of a stretch getting signals from Rock and Roll Heaven. Even though they've got a hell of a band!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Oh wait, there's a station ID... WWCR from Nashville on 13.845Mhz. Goodness, could you guys narrow down that transmission to something less than 3Mhz wide??
Anybody know of an easy bandpass filtering project I could put inline with the HW-8? #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
Okay, I feel better now, tnx fur ur time.

You might check with Mike, WB8VGE (drop him an e-mail). He is the HW-7/8/9 guru.

Only the "Shadow" knows what is possible and impossible. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Go back to 1989 and the movie "High Frequency". While the actors are clearly not hams and many procedure violations occur, along with a few rf reality errors, #at least the premise of the movie is plausible, and not too far out for even a trekkie. I was even entertained by it. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Now you know the kings of the music world aren't dead, they just spun the dial. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I heard there was a house in Canada in which Elvis, Joplin, Hendrix and Morrison all resided. Whatever happened to that house? Was it foreclosed or sumptin?

I saw Elvis loading trucks at Sam's last week.
Q: There are three guys in ZZ Top. Which one does NOT have a beard?
A: Frank Beard.
(Actually, I think the rest may have shaved by now, but that answer was true back in the heyday.)
Elvis has a beard now too - I swear, he's out there driving that forklift.

I seen Elvis in a hobo jungle in Spokane in 1992, hi was skinny as a rail, filthy as a pig, and as happy as only a man with absolutely NO responsabilities could be. He changed his name to "Bobby Dobbs" and started a new religion, the "Subgenius Church," and I am a "Priest" in it. We have a weekly broadcast on KPFA FM in Berzerkly, CA every week. Or see: <www.geocities.com/boxcarro>

Part of the charm of the old radios are their lack of filtering and such. If they had all the bells and whistles like the new modern radios, they would not be old radios now would they?
As to Elvis all you are wrong. He is sharing a double wide trailer in a Memphis trailer park with that funny talking mechanic from the old TV show 'Taxi'. From what I hear they plan to make a double surprise comeback next year.

I heard that John Entwistle has recently joined them. And exactly what is an "Entwistle"?
