Well, of couse we are pictured as geeks, even though wired news is aimed toward computer freaks. At least they mentioned BPL:

I'm a huge nerd. And proud of it!

Actually, they overused the term 'nerd' in the article. 'Geek' might have been preferred in some circles. I haven't taped my glasses together for 30 years, and I gave up pocket protectors 10 or 15 years ago. And I never wear white socks with dark slacks anymore, either.

You know, I am quite proud to be called a nerd. As a school teacher, I am often called on by other teachers and administration to fix computer related issues. I am oftentimes told I am a nerd. The irony, I graduated high school 750th in a class of 820. I surfed, skipped class, etc... a regular Spicolli. I guess I grew up-joined the military, then went to college, made dean's list repeatedly. . .even took Latin for three years. I am also the guy at hamfests with the callsign hat (sorry, no belt buckles for me yet) and t-shirt with callsign embroidered on it. Oh my gosh, what has happened to me? I even listen to talk radio. I love being a nerd/geek.

As Bill Gates said, "Be nice to nerds; sooner or later you'll end up working for one."
