My own table manners are not perfect and I know that - however I do make the attempt to be considerate of my fellow diners whether at home or dining out.
A few nights ago my wife and I went to a Barbecue place whose specialty is ribs. #The only way to eat ribs is of course with your fingers and plenty of napkins. #I noticed a large lady at the next table relishing her dinner of ribs and chicken. #
The restaurant has those plastic squeeze bottles for dispensing the different sauces. #Apparently they didn’t dispense fast enough for her so she removed the lid – licked her big fat thumb and placed it over the end of the open bottle, shock the bottle vigorously and then poured the sauce over her meal. #
Prior to that, we went to one of those Texas Roadhouse places where they serve you complimentary unshelled peanuts in a bucket while you wait for your order. #
As I was leaving, I noticed a fellow with a group of people waiting for a table. #He had gotten himself a bucket of peanuts while waiting – no problem there. #The problem was that he was putting the whole peanuts into his mouth, cracking them with his teeth and then spitting the shells back into the bucket. #
In both instances, these items would be passed onto the next unsuspecting customer. # #Eeyeww!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Are manners like this common or is it just in my redneck part of the world?

Folks dont even bother to put on clean clothes to eat in a restaurant any more...go to any all night diver near a major highway / interstate you will see what I mean. Folks that smell so bad it gives the stinking ham at a hamfest a rosy smell. Plus half of these slobs crawl out of an suv or a motorhome.
Then they eat with their chins 2 inches above the plate ( if that high ) and usually leave NO tip at all, along with a messy floor UNDER the table.
But you know the BEST part about it...the waitresses have ways of remembering the lousy tippers or slobs ( paybacks are fun for them ).It is called " closed circuit tv " and they get to watch the video of the lousy tippers & slobs and remember what they basically look like, along with type of vehicle they came in in the parking lot. The video also helps with those who walk out and dont pay the bill.
Aint modern technology great ?

The days of good manners and courtesy have long since gone. Greed is in fashion. If you don't eat ten burgers, weigh 150 lbs, have a fat neck, three chins and an arse as big as a cow you aint in fashion. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

QK:
In most parts of the world someone who weighs 150 pounds wouldn't have 3 chins, a fat neck, and a large posterior unless they were about 3 feet tall.
I average about 185 pounds, am 5'10" tall, and definitely do not fit your description!

Sorry guys,
But this is simple.
Kindly tell the manager about people puting food from thier 'mouthy parts, etc.' back into the 'public domain' parts of the restaurant.
If you can, politely tell the owner.
Something WILL be done, really.
If it IS NOT, (this part is REAL simple), tell your Public Health Officer for the city or township, or county.
THEN....if nothing is done, ....M O V E ...you are in a dangerous part of the country, not from food poisoning, but from the BIG toxins from the DEEP POCKET polluters.
I know of nowhere in the US that there are not laws against 'mixing foods' by consumers in a restaurant. It is BASIC. If they ignore THIS law (when told about violations), I can assure you the big time stuff is completely ignored. If you live in an area that has NO HEALTH DEPARTMENT, then you ARE the target for toxic waste dumping. IT IS BIG BIG business.
ONE other consideration...If there is no Public Health Department, then likely there are NO antenna restrictions....you may just want to stay.....

My prime restaurant snivel is the people who bring the 140 decibel brat.
Snivel #2: the customer with the voice that carries. They invariably use more words in 5 minutes than I use in a year, know nothing about what they are talking about, and go on for 45 minutes.
I used to think college guys hitting on girls was the most obnoxious conversation around, until I heard a college boy hitting on a college boy...
At the salad bar in the company barfeteria, some of the pigs think nothing of noisily licking their fingers, then grabbing the next utensil. Oafs...
