This should be interesting to see in action. All the real classy dudes and swap meet vultures fighting over who knows what like the last dress on the clearance rack. I only wish I could stand there and watch it unfold.

Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
This attracts a KBH!!!! I love dumpster diving already (got a good flat hose once), but free electronics!!!!! I wish I could go! If it was local, better have my dad go with in his Chevy 2500 HD to haul all the crap I would get home! Free commercial radios! I feel greatly left out. Could someone who lives by it, out of the goodness of their heart, please go and get me a commercial radio? I have not gotten a good free one for years. Pllllleeeaaasssssssseeee?

Every time I see a TV antenna in the dumpster I'll dive for it. In a heartbeat.

Sounds like fun. I could use a VHF/UHF vswr meter, antenna parts, I'll take radios of all types, HF/6m antenna tuner (for when I upgrade to HF), Icom PRC1000 and software, Icom R3. I'm sure there will be a few boat anchors out there. Too bad tubes are not easier to get a hold of price wise as well as availability. Oh, coax too, some LMR400. A mounting sleeve for my Diamond V2000.
Guess my list is getting too long! Oh well. A guy can wish can't he? HaHaHa! I already know the joke to that one! Too bad I'm way over on the other side of the country. I'd like to visit a few people who post here on the way. Just to say hello and shake their hand.

CRAAAAAAAAAP! #Why can't these guys do this in Texas? #I am the world's biggest SUCKER for ham radio junk. #I've bought a mountain of the stuff. #Why does my one chance to get even have to be 2000 miles away?
DOUBLE PHOOEY!

Well...those of you who are " too far away " can arrange to have your own " dumpster dive " in your own city. Plan ahead and do it.

Dang,
This never happened while I went to school in Eugene.
Great idea though. But I'll bet there will be some serious swapping done too, so everybody goes home with more junk, just different. Only to find, when they get home, that the XYL put her car in the garage for the first time in years and now there's no room for it.

Here in Kalifornia we are getting a convoy of guys together to drive up for this event.
We have already picked up the forms for the folks giving the stuff away to sign that states the free stuff contains no toxic materials, hasn't been used in any crimes, contains no fur, has no mention of religion, has all the required warning tags attached, is safe for the chilrens, and was not built by slave labor.
(We wouldn't want to bring back any stuff to the Republik that wasn't PC..)
It looks like fun.

Man, this is a GREAT idea. About 70% of what I see at most hamfests would qualify. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Several years ago, I did a "basement cleanup." Not a lot of ham stuff, cuz I'd been inactive for awhile, but a lot of old computer and stereo stuff. Pre-eBay and too lazy for a garage sale. I found a local "collector" to haul it all off. Free for him, free for me. I'd say we both got a bargain.
I'm starting to believe the old adage that if you haven't used something in the last year, you'll never use it.

Why do you live here if it's too "PC" for you?

I have plenty of new, ultra-sharp thorns, free for the asking, should your own supply run thin.
