I was thinking about getting the vxa-700,but the vx-7r would be better. does anyone know once a mod is done if it will tx in the air band 108-136 am? Thanks Dave

Nope.
It would require a whole different transmitter section to transmit AM.
If it WOULD transmit in those bands, it would be FM, which would be useless for aircraft operation.
And it is not type accepted for aircraft use, anyway. Or any other use besides amateur.

When this was first posted, at least 3 of us chatted via PM with Dave. He did not understand that even with a mod, they will not transmit AM.
His questions were answered. He is a pilot and now understands the how's and why's of no chance of it working, legalities aside.
