Somedays it just doesn't pay to get up.

I lost my staff a long time ago.

What else is new?

My wife went thru this. #In three days the scratch on her shin turned to blue/red oozing blood from ankle to groin. Her blood pressure was extremely low when she was admitted to the hospital. #There was a possibility that her leg would be removed to save her life. #She was on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks and felt bad for 6 months after that. #It has been a year and her leg is still beet red from the calf to her ankle, but she feels O.K.

Sorry to hear about your wife. However I'm glad that she's getting better.

This is nasty stuff, that people can catch from dirty crappers and alike.

That's nothing. Listen to Art Bell. Soon we'll all have little nano-robots floating around in our bloodstream, turning us into grey goo!!

Emily Litella, age 86, writes in to ask:

What's all this nonsense about fish-eating Germans? I think eating fish is very healthy. And fish are low in fat and high in protein! I think it would be good for Germans to take a break from all that nasty bratwurst and have some nice flounder or salmon. Then maybe they'd fit better into their lederhosen! And with less nitrates and fat in their diet, maybe they'd be less irritable and aggressive and stop driving tanks into neighboring countries and looking for world domination! If that nasty Hitler had eaten more rockfish and less sausage, he probabably..... what?..... Oh. Never mind!

3SY, you had better watch out for these germs. You can't be embalmed if these germs get you first. You will have to be flame broiled.

Yeah, like I haven't been flame broiled on QRZ the past week?

Not by me ;)

Double edged problem that lead to this situation:

1) People demanding antibiotics for viral infections, that would not be affected by the antibiotic at all; antibiotics only deal with bacterial infections.

2) Doctors prescribing a 7, or 9 day dosage, when a 14 day course is in reality needed.

3) Add the third edge (I know, I said two); people not taking the TID/QID presciptions to the end, or on time.

One major reason I object to the pharmeceutical companies advertising to the general public, is just this. More scripts are written for non-existant afflictions, and down a list.

Beware the superbug. Staph is NOT the only one. We have ONE antibiotic that will deal with them at this point...one.

When they become resistant to that, the 1800's are going to look like a picnic..

ERV, some of these resistant bugs will bring back things not seen since the 1700's. Nasty stuff ala carte..

Oh, and did you read that such nice bits as Ruebella, Small Pox and all were on the rise in other countries? Add that some 50% of one vaccination was null and void in another instance.

And even if in another country, through mutation all them bugs will get a green card.

Things NEVER seen in this country have been showing up.

I wonder from where, not..

It was on the news this morning.
# # And it's a bacteria that developed itself as a result of over use of antibiotics. #And there's no antibiotic that can get rid of it. #
# # It isn't caught from dirty toilet seats or dirty hands Unless you have a deep scratch or puncture wound. #If your wound gets infected, go to a doctor immediately, and keep going until it's 100% cleared up. #Because it might be infected with this bacteria that won't go away with antibiotics. #And it has to be determined in less than 24 hours also from the time you first get the infection or you are dead.....

It used to be just in the hospitals that this was restricted to, but now anyone can get it in public places.

I saw a photograph taken of a young Civil War soldier with a very badly infected leg. Half of the leg was involved and lost tissue was very evident. He was awaiting amputation of the leg. Medicine hadn't discovered the germ theory of disase then. People used to routinely die from germ infections that we don't even notice any longer. Many prior epidemic organisms were thought to be wiped-out but they've returned in drug uresistive strains.

I know it's fun to make pun here, but this is a very serious issue.
