I just heard this morning that in the next couple of years you will be required to have a passport to get back into the United States from Mexico and Canada.

This is being done for both security and to stop illegal immigration. They say it is just too easy to counterfeit state driver’s licenses.

In some interviews with people that travel between AZ and Mexico, many say that they will not go any longer as they cannot afford to get passports for the entire family. They say that passports cost about $100 currently.

Mexico wants the money from tourism and in some cases depends on it. Maybe this will encourage the Mexican authorities to help us control illegal immigration into this county? I doubt at this point it will stop the use of the passports in the future.
