To my friend Rob...

What can I say? You were my first contact as a new Ham and I will always remember that magic moment of pressing the PTT on my HT and hearing you come back to me. You helped me get acquainted to my new hobby and offered helpful advice allowing me to sound like a OM a lot quicker. You advised me on my first radio purchase and now when I use that radio I will always think of you. It will be sad not hearing your voice on the air, because no matter when I called you were always there. If I needed to "vent" you listened. If I needed a friend you were there. When I didn't pass my code test the first time you told me to stick with it and that if I tried I could do it. Somehow you always had a way of making me laugh and that was the best gift you ever gave me.

Rob you were sick for a long time but never let it get you down. I can only hope if I become ill I can remember how you treasured everyday and made the most of it. Here's wishing you all the SLOPPY JOES YOU CAN EAT !

I would have to say, Rob was one unique guy. I met him back in the old "250" days when I was about 14.. Got him into ham radio with his first ham radio an ICOM IC-02AT ever since then he was bit of an ICOM fan. We went to many a Bayone Club meeting and Diner afterwards in that old Gray Van.. Later falling out of the hobby and comming back 10years later to find Rob still Monitoring the repeater 24-7. He was a great friend but more like a brother to me than my own family. He had suffered alot later in life but I would say that Ham Radio added quite a few bonus years that may not have been there without it. 73's old friend you will be missed.

It is always an emotional moment to rememeber those days, how someone cared enough to reach out and help us learn and study to get our ticket, those are indeed fond memories that last forever...

Spoke to Rob only a few times in my earlier years, maybe about 7-8 years ago, when I was a lot more on 2-mtrs (really only on HF these days)... A great guy and a real true lover of the hobby! I just happened to be looking through the SK's and I saw that he had passed away in April of 2005...

I met Rob about the same time I was first licensed and never knew him to think of himself first even when he was so sick all those years. He took many kids under his wing to be like a "big brother" to them and he also stood up for many new hams such as myself and others back then when the old timers would gang up and "play dirty" to run people off of repeaters. Rob never tolerated that. Sadly, I hadn't been in touch with Rob for quite some time and was out of the loop with all others that knew him so I never found out until months later that he had passed away in April, on my nieces birthday and the same day the Pope passed away. Rest in peace Rob, and thank you for all you did for me.
