There'll be two youth nets run in the middle of the Kids Roundup contest. #
# # The World Wide Youth Net is meeting on 21.305MHz +/- QRM, at 1900z today. #
# # The .275 Youth Group is running on 7.275MHz +/- QRM at 0100z, today. #Notice, that this is 8:00 P.M. Eastern time*, and there is a good chance we might be on 7.274Mhz.
# # So if you would like to drop by, it would be great, and if you have third party folks, that would be great too. #Remember, poeple of any age is welcome to check-in. # # # #
Hope to see you there,
Tim W8LBO
(BTW, why is it the Kid's Roundup? #It seems to me that most people participating won't be kid's, but teens? Or I guess they are in the same category.)
*now that the time has changed, it is 9:00 PM Eastern

Also, I haven't looked at the rules for the Kid's Roundup, so I don't know if net contacts are legal, but you could always take a Ragchew break, hehehe.

I wish I had became a ham earlier. I was first licensed just after I turned 19, became a General just before I turned 20 and now I'm 11 days from being 21.

I'll give a listen and see if I can't make a few contacts.

No problem. I'm looking forward to checking into the WWYN. And running the Youth Group should be a lot of fun, too.

Happy Birthday btw.

I'm 18 years old, and am going to try to work some people during the Kids Roundup.

It should be called "Young Hams Roundup" , not "Kids Roundup". Unless goats are welcome to participate or this is mainly for those who sit at the kiddie table and eat from the kiddie menu after swimming in the kiddie pool.

Hi LBO and readers,

Sorry, I can't resist. The phrases "youth net" and "kid's roundup" sort of go together. I envision large nets and some cowboys herding them together...

so they can play radio.

Sort of reminds me when the 14.247 DX Net control was looking for DX chickens. Yeah, that's what it sounded like. (;->)

Kind of interesting you mention that, I am on the 247 DX net right now, about to make a contact. I like the nets, because I can sit here and work on the computer while waiting for my turn.

Just a note, due to the time change the .275 Youth Group will be on at 9:00 PM Eastern now, which is still 0100z. Last week we had 10 checkk-ins! 73

NAYN had five I think this past week, and 10 or so last week. The net has been going good. Some minor problems on the board that got out of hand, but we are tying to focus on radio now, and getting way from politics. I was happy to see that a DX station checked in.

I am sorry that I usually miss the .275 youth group, but I am not usually around the radio saturdays at that time, and when I am its usually for a reason, and I am working a contest or somthing. I will try to check in in the near future if I can remember, and if I can hear you.

NAYN will be bringing in a CW and a PSK net. We will also be discussing an SSTV net. I look forard to getting more youth amateurs from the U.S and around the world on the air.

Yes, I thought that was a little critical about the spelling incident. But, as I asked, OWO, could we maybe meet on 20 and you fill me in since I don't use chat things?

I will be on 14.345. If that is in use, 14.329. If that is in use too, scan around between there.

Hi again,

"Kind of interesting you mention that, I am on the 247 DX net right now, about to make a contact. I like the nets, because I can sit here and work on the computer while waiting for my turn."

Kinda like shooting fish in a barrell, doncha think?

Where can I find information about the .275 net? I'm a frequent checkin in the NAYN - net control last week, too - and I've yet to check into .275.

Go to the links on the NAYN group. It is at 0000z now, if I am right.

Well, its a way for me to play radio while I am busy with other things. Of course I like to DX, and I do that too WITHOUT the use of DX nets.. Though I also run the DX cluster to see whats on.

Yesterday's net was even better. We had 11 check-ins. I think that's a new net record.

Thanks, without KG4WEL in there we probably would have only gotten like 4. He has an awesome signal up here.

The strong ones can really help out the net. NAYN is always looking for relay stations.

Our PSK net is a new twist, and you can join in and see how well you print us every sunday at 2300z.. We will be on 14.075 to get out of the way of the ragchewers. We will try to be righ aroun 1500hz.

I look forward to joining the .275 youth group, if I ever remember. I have an announcement going to my email. I will tune up on 40 and say hello.
