Here is something I thought would be interesting for those of us that send and receive QSL cards.

Recently, I started QSLing DX contacts, especially the ones with United States managers. The result is I've been getting 2-4 cards a week.

I thought it would be fun for those who want to, to show any card or cards you have received that you think are interesting. It can be any card, stateside, DX, even your own.

I myself have a bunch, but I decided to show one of the ones I got today. Today I received one from Guantanamo Bay, and one from Hawaii. Here is the GTMO one...

Knowing my luck no one else will post or add their own pictures. Oh well, I just thought it could be fun to see all kinds of cards people have gotten.

Good idea for a topic! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I don't own a scanner, but I'll scan a few at work in the morning. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Thanks for the Q's , Gordon!!

As with all the cards I receive, I will send you out a TOØO card within 72 hours of receiving your card. There is no reason it should take a DX station a year or more to send you out their card.

Listen for me from Haiti this fall.....I'm going to apply for the call HH5H.

Here is a stateside contact. He was bicycle mobile. He has an ICOM 706 on the handle bars and an antenna on the back. I had a pretty good QSO with him. It wasn't a UR 59, QRZed? contact. This is and I think will continue to be one of my most memorable contacts.

I don't currently have a scanner, so I had to take a picture with my digital camera. The white spot is the glare from the flash and the yellow is the reflection of the room's lights.

How ironic you should pick that card to display. I have been out of ham radio for 20 some odd years. I purchased a new radio and received it on March 4th. KG4WW was my very first contact on my return.

With this as my call, did I really have much of a choice???

It's actually a 4x6 photo that I run off as needed, then I have pre-printed stickers for the back and general qso info.

Here's the one I am the most proud of so far of all the ones I *DO* have. I don't have many, and virtually no DX cards except for one from Gitmo. But even in mileage, that's not as far as Napa, CA.

I enjoy getting any card, but I love the full color picture kind. Especially for special events or DX operations. I try to make a card that people will like too. I used an image in mine that I took in Austin, TX last May. It is a view looking up into the dome of the state capital. That star at the peak is bigger than you think. It is huge, but since it is I think about 300ft up, it looks small.

about it. It's also a good way to keep track for DXCC.

George, Remember when you would get the QSL card proposals with samples BEFORE your license even came in the Mail???

I remember that back when I first got my Novice back in 62 or 63....

I sure remember that. #As you know, that's how most of us learned of our new callsigns back when the FCC license bureau was so slow. #I got mailings with WN4VQY on the mailing labels from both Russprint and Trigger (shudder) Electronics a week before my license showed up. #Made waiting for the license that much harder. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I got a copy of "Your Novice Accent" booklet from ARRL a couple of weeks AFTER i got the license.

Yes Steve, Getting those ads in the mail with your new Call sign did make that wait for your actual license seem like it took years.
I was so excited when I received my first QSL ad with my new Call sign from Walter Ashe Qsl's
Now, It is up on the FCC website in just a few days.
It just isn't the same!

In Scottsdale in the '60's, most of us used cards made locally by good ol' C. Fritz (formerly of Joliet, Ill; samples 25 cents, deductible)! Guess he meant deductible if you then ordered cards; always thought he meant tax deductible and could never understand why. But then, I was 14 at the time. He sure made nice cards.

He was a great guy. I had my DZ cards made in the early 90's when he must have been in his 80's. See my 1966 card (still my favorite) when I was wa7fik and my latest one at the qrz info page for w0dz.
