How many people will be participating in this years Spring sprint?
2005 Spring VHF/UHF Sprint (http://www.etdxa.org/2005_spring_sprint%20rules.htm)
Unfortunately I won't be, however this will be a great time for
those new to the hobby to get on the air and meet some new
people.
Not to mention some of the seasoned operators to either help
the newer operators, or to maybe set up a demonstration to
help bring some people into the hobby.

Sounds fun. Sadly I don't have an all mode rig that goes above the 6M band yet so if 6 isn't open, it's going to be a short event for me.
I'll be sure to fire up the 6m rig for this one. Perhaps I'll try the 2m and 440 nights as well, although I'm limited to FM on those bands...
Edit: here are the freqs I plan to use, in case anyone in the west MI area is reading:
2m night: 146.46 FM
70cm night: 445.89 FM
6m night: 50.135 USB

Hi KG2mercury and all,
Well, I'm all set to hand out points on 6M, 2M, 1.25M FM only and 70cM but I'm not a contester so I won't be burning up the bands.
"...this will be a great time for

Uh uh, all they want is a callsign in the log so you don't "meet" anybody in a conterst. MAYBE one or two will chat briefly during slack time but that's about it. Great way to test your operational range and if the band(s) open they'll have a blast.

Uh RRA, click on the link.

Mr. KWW, you won't hear much, put your receiver in programmed band scan mode.
As for me, it's a good time to put my new Alinco DR-235 through it's paces, I already know what the Icom 706Mk2G can do. It's a bit raw on the Atlantic this month so I will probably have to wait for the VHF Summer Sprint to work our local /MM contester again.

The 2m Sprint is tonight, it's only 4 hours and all based on "local" time, so activity should peak everywhere.
I'll get on a little while, probably not the whole 4 hours.
The one time I did get on for the whole 4 hours was in 1989 or 1990 (I think), where I took an RV up to Saddle Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains, and ran 500W PEP on 2m SSB to a portable 13 element yagi on a 30' slipup mast, and achieved the highest score in the country as WB2WIK/6. That was kind of fun, but once you've done it, there's not a lot of incentive to do it again...too much work for a 4-hour operation!
Get and and make some noise!

I made some good contacts tonight (4/4/05) in the spring sprint. I made a doz in less than a hour. I had contacts from NC to CT. It was fun.
Looking forward to the 432 sprint in a couple of weeks.

The Sprint activity was less than impressive in the North Texas area. #Not a lot of stations on, and poor band condx. #Made a few contacts and gained a new grid, but most participants were ragchewing trying to see if others would come in.
Hopefully the other 3 bands will be more cooperative.

I didn't make a single contact last night.
I heard a few stations on here in FN10 but not many. Luckily there was some auroral propagation to the north. I worked a couple VE stations in FN04 and FN24. Worked a few others in the northeast, but nothing new and exciting.
I'm ready for the June QSO party.
Remember Greg, if you want to work those hard grids you gotta plug in that key. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
