This was my 1st CQ CONTEST with my Gap Antenna, that is ground mounted. I really enjoyed the contest and had a lot of fun with it. I worked more DX in this contest than before. I got a Kick out of working a N2RRA and working KH7X on 3 bands 15-20-40 I was hopping that 10 would open up..

I got a late start but still made 83 contacts worked about 66 prefixes made 83 contacts for a score of 8646
Iam looking forward to field day
I use Scotts program, N3FJP it is a very good program for contesting

So what areyour thoughts on the CQWPX contest?

I worked the contest, really enjoyed it. A Ground mounted vertical really does a fine job. I use the Hustler 4BTV, and I love it. I would much rather have a GR5V, but with space limitations.

Glad you had fun, this was also my first CW WPX contest.. I hope to be QRV in 2006.

Why not give it a try in May 2005? That's when I'll try to get psyched up for a decent score.

If you worked the CW WPX contest last weekend, you were two months early, since that doesn't occur until the end of May...

HAHA.. A typo.. I meant to say this wafs my first CQ WPX contest. I am not a CW op, and therefore not a CW contestor (if I ever do try a go at any CW operations, it would NOT be a CW contest.. too fast for a beginner like me)

Anyways the CQ WPX SSB contest was a lot of fun..

That's a BAD way to look at things, Steve. Get some nerve up and jump into a CW contest. Maybe you'll have to listen 10 times to get the calls and exchanges, but if you make an honest effort by the time the contest is over, your CW skills will have doubled or tripled. And CW is a lot more fun when one is confident in themselves and halfway proficient.

We were all beginners once and the way to quit being a beginner is to jump in make a fool of yourself like I have and gain some valuable practice. Nothing magic, just practice.
