Hi All,

I have a Motorola GM350.

I have the programming interface, but no software.

I have found some on a Russian FTP site, but it's written in Thai as the default Language, and I'm not from Thailand..........

Can anyone help with the software please?

Mail me at m0tjc@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks,

James - M0TJC

Oh! What's the beef here?

In this country modifying ex commercial equipment for amateur radio use is popular. It's cheap and probably teaches the user something.

Are you angry about him using unlicensed software to get his SINGLE radio on to the amateur bands? Is that it? I genuinely don't know.

I also have no idea if the software is free ware, $ ware or warez. I do suspect though that you are getting more excited about it than Motorola would. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Have I missed the point?

Best wishes,

Steve.

Well, the language was a bit blunt, but I must say here in the US, Motorola is rabid about protecting their intellectual property. Folks who offer Motorola software on ebay invariably get hate letters from the Motorola legal department, as do the buyers.

The way I see it, Motorola can afford better lawyers than I can, so I play it straight.

And by the way, the Russian FTP site is rumoured to have lots of defective software, and using that can very likely turn your radio into a doorstop. Not wise at all.

Hi guys,

While there is nothing illegal in the UK or US about modding or programming commercial gear for use on ham bands there is the legal issue of programming software.

Like Chris ZDY said, it's proprietary meaning copyrighted and owned by Motorola so you either have to buy it or have an authorized tech shop reprogram the unit. I too wouldn't trust those illegal knock-offs, some "crackers" don't know their butts from a hole in the ground.
