After reading this article, I feel like a hangmans rope has just been put around America by to third world scum bags. And the sad part about it, is that they will get away with it.

Hi all,
What makes you think Venezuela is any more US friendly than Iran? WE developed the oil fields in both countries and see how grateful they are for thier new found wealth?
BTW, you might say I hold a personal grudge. An ex girlfriend's father was one of the oil company developers who opened up Venezuela's production and because of a long term assignment temporarily moved his family there. While there this lovely but unfortunately naive young girl was "ruined" by the son of a Venezuelan worker. She'll never recover from the experience in a lifetime, it was months before she would speak with her friends and years before she could face a man again.
I suppose the same sort of thing will happen to the US oil market if you should read between the lines and see the word I'm thinking of. Yeah, we'll get...
Just sign me "resentful".

I don't think the combined oil production of those two countries can have a major impact on world supplies. Since Oil companies wholsale oil on the world market it could come from almost anywhere but the price is market driven. I do think the Oil companies have more to do with setting the price than any other influence though.

Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, we've been looking for an enemy. Without enemies, a country grows soft, and eventually falls apart, ala, the Romans.
Right now, we're taking auditions. North Korean, Iran, and Syria are on the short list of nominees, but it appears that Venezuela is just waiting in the wings for its opportunity. But, Chavez is a democratically elected leader. Will we knock off another democracy?
