Personally, I, for one, am glad... the bureaucrats are complaining about not having enough snowpack on the mountains to last us till fall.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Well, since the seasons world wide are slowly changing ( whether due to MAN or not is debatable ) { In ALABAMA, we used to have frost on the ground regularily in October, now we hardly even see a weeks worth by the first of the year }...so on February 2, we should have no less than 6 more weeks of winter.

The groundhog has an accuracy of 39-40% (go ahead and Google it). This can only mean that summer is right around the corner.

general lee didn't see his shadow though, so early spring, if you put any stock in these things, please don't look for any better weather till after easter, seen many ground hog days, after easter is more reliable though, like the fourth full moon in the year, that is what my grand father always said, and he was american indian works for me...

I always thought that if the groundog saw its shadow that meant there would be six more weeks of winter and if it didn’t that meant only a month and a half more winter.

Kinda like when the doc told me I could take some cold medicine and my cold would only last about 3 or so weeks but, if I decided not to have the prescription filled it would last 21 or so days.

Maybe Pennsylvania is having 6 more weeks of winter, but here in New York City, the groundhog predicted spring is here. He runs about 85% right. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I always prefered the explanation: If he sees his shadow, 6 more weeks of Winter. If he doesn't, there's only 42 days until Spring.

Kind of like: You don't HAVE to learn Morse, you GET to learn Morse. So enjoy!http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well, that's a lot better track record than any of OUR weather men!

50 degrees here on Monday. I'll drink to that. Let's tell the Irish it's St. Patricks' Day. Cue the pipers. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Around here the ground hog is doing a radio commercial promoting a brand of windshield wipers so that your windshield will be clear during bad weather and you won't run over his family and friends. Also, he definitely states that he is NOT a meterologist.

This reminds me of the story about the Indian who gazed out over the valley and told his buddies:

"Long winter coming."

"How can you tell?"

"White man builds big woodpile."

I like the automobile television commercial where it says that the weatherman predicted sunshine and it is raining. Then they "cut" to a driver of a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Next they say that the weatherman predicted rain and the sun is shining. Then they "cut" to a driver of a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Then they say that the weatherman predicted unseasonably high temperatures and there is a blizzard. Then they "cut" to a driver of a 4-wheel vehicle. The driver gets out of the vehicle and is hit in the back with a snowball. The person who threw the snowball is standing next to a poster showing the picture of the weatherman who just happens to be the driver of the vehicle.
