Ah....yes nothing like some religous crap to help things along. Just like politics in the USA, the masses need something to believe in.
Now there is belief in the disaster areas that God was displeased and showed it with the tsunamis. Now they have to figure what it was/is he's pissed about.
Religon is a wonderful thing...it fits perfectly into the heads of those who have way too much empty space in there.

I disagree with that, I know many religious people that are as tolerant and open-minded as anyone else, they just choose to believe what they believe and don't force it on anyone else. As it should be. Organized religion as a political force is the problem.

Sounds like those folks have been standing too close to the incense sticks while they were burning for waaaaaaaaaaaay too long. It certainly didn't take the superstitous types long to pop up and start frothing at the mouth. Wonder how many National Inquirer reporters are over there by now.

Another truth! My God says he is the only God and the right one and if you don't believe it, I will have to beat you up (or worse) to prove it.
Remember, the basic concept of religion is conflict and the battle between good and evil. A continuing fight. And the preaching that you have to fight others that have different perceptions than yourself. #
#The middle east has been doing it for a long time. All over religion. Darn, you think they would all just sit down, have a drink and somthing to smoke and chill out. #But GOD is against that kind of stuff!
#I have always been amazed that otherwise rational and intelligent beings fall in to believing in religious precepts.
#And how some people can believe in God and not believe in extraterrestrial beings?
#Religion is the biggest can of worms in our society today and in our past.
That ought to turn on the heaters!

Well, let's not deny it. If fact, let's send them a message to straighten up or we'll send some more and bigger ones right at them. Tell 'em to run for cover, the next big one is on the way!

Folks who hear voices from the non-living are the most frightening of all! And often, very dangerous.
One thing I have learned over the years, is when those folks warn you that a spirt is coming to get you, they may wind up doing the damage to you themselves, such as burning your house down, torturing your pets, etc., and then claim "the demons did it." Yeah, buddy, you betcha.
Yep, God punished all those sinners in South Asia. Of course, he punished all the good religious folks, too. Not a very wise God. Or perhaps just very nearsighted.

I'm wondering how that tidal wave is gonna take out my house and leave my righteous neighbor's. Same deal: earthquake.
Reminds me of those old cartoons with the long haired dude in the flowing white robes wearing the sandwich boards that read "REPENT. THE END IS NEAR." Never saw a real dude doing that, though.
A cubit concerns the middle finger? Ah, so THAT'S where that comes from.
Just think - in 1,000 years they'll be talking about The Great Flood - but they'll mean the one that sank California.
And they'll still be saying "The End Is Near; Repent." Been saying that for two thousand years now, so what's another thousand or so?
Uh oh ... I hear voices. They're calling me. Beckoning me back to the end of the tunnel. No, the OTHER end. Something about, "Get a Big Mac." Oh, wait - that's the TV in the other room. Darn. I thought I was having a religious experience.
Just heard voices again. One of them is calling .... wait, I can almost get it ... calling ... yes, it's clearer now (QSB, you know) ... ah, yes .... it says.... 'CQ Forty, CQ forty, CQ forty ... '
Wow! Two experiences in the same night.

Dracula is fiction. #A classic to be sure but someone's overactive imagination!

kww is absolutly right. when we croak there are only 2 things. Judgment and after that, we are going to be with Him, or we aren't. No middle road.
But from what I read here so far, it reminds me of where Jesus said,,,"Don't cast your pearls before swine"
And,,,"If they won't accept you, then they don't accept Me, and shake the dust off your feet, and leave that city and go to another city"
No one can come to God unless HE calls him.
Jesus said,,,"I am the Way, The Truth, and The Life. And NO man can come to the Father except through Me"
That's it folks. God said it. I believe it because God doesn't lie. He isn't a liar. And that is good enough for me...

The bible is only half true. It is interspersed with non-truths thanks to King James. You all know the story of what King James did to the bible so I won't get into that here.
The bible is a book of opinions and some history. More often than not it has some good guidlines to follow, most of which are actualy common sense. The 10 commandments are a good example. The bible is a book for man written by man. At a time when religion was the only government, it just made sense to keep people in line by telling them that God will cast you into the Hellfires if you don't follow our community standards. If it works for you then that's fine. It is about belief. Whether you really believe it or because you were told to believe it, it is still about belief and not a one of us will have even the slightest grasp of the real truth until after we pass into the "hereafter".

While you are creating your particular God, you can create him, it, her, to suit your needs of the moment. You can place upon him, her, it, whatever limitations you wish, or grant it, him, her whatever powers you desire. You can also make Heaven or Hell how you wish it to be.

# He looks over to his left and he sees a line of Jews. He looks past their line and sees a line of Buddists. He looks past their line and sees another line and so forth. He looks to his right and sees a line Muslims. He looks past their line and sees a line of Tribal Natives (doesn't matter where they are from).
He looks past their line and so on.
# It is now the Christian mans turn to walk through the door as he steps through, he notices that everyone that was waitng in line on either side of him, have all walked into the same place.

I guess you would say that because you believe Jesus is God. I think that's just the Christians trying to one up on other beliefs.

Since you have taken it upon yourself to "call fire from heaven" upon some here from time to time, consider this
Quote[/b] ]I will set myself against those who turn to spirit-mediums and sorcerers, and cut them off from their people paraphrased from Vayikra 20:6 (aka Leviticus); part of the Torah, held as truth by Jews, Christians, and Moslems.

Once again you are wrong. The dead have a lot to offer the living. It is from their remains that we find cures for the illness that sent them to the great beyond.
And OM just for the record, I beleve in GOD, I beleve in DAMNATION FOR THE EVIL & The SINNERS. I beleve in HEAVEN FOR THE BLESSED and I beleve that GOD does send angels in the form of spirits to visit us and watch over us. I do beleve that the dead who are blessed with heaven will rise from their graves and acend.

The bible may say so, but then if you take it literally I offer the following possibilities:
The caseload has hit the point that not even an omnipotent being can keep up.
(S)He decided to take a century off.
Paralleling the first, so busy on project B that promises made in project A are falling behind.
Someone else can pick it up from there.
If you have never experienced it, it is something that is easily considered impossible, by whatever reasoning you like.
Likewise, you can consider yourself lucky. Yes, lucky; you haven't lived in a location that either is an intersection (ley lines), or had something abhorrent happen in in the past.
I've seen people that turned to nothing within a fraction of a second of my seeing them. Heard noises, seen sash windows open by themselves, ovens set themselves to 350, and the timer set as if a cake were in there.
The last three were in a house that a woman was shotgunned to death in her sleep by her husband. Seattle, WA, Ballard neighborhood, early 1970's. Feel free to look the event up. It's likely somewhere.
And said window actually took a bit to open, it wasn't a case of overly heavy sash weights.
She didn't know she was dead. Likely still doesn't, if the house still stands, and nobody has shown her the way out.
The movie "Sixth Sense" actually does a good job on explaining, but as with most movies, it goes a bit beyond. A good watch though.
No tin hat here, I just know what I personally have seen and experienced.
BUT, they are mostly harmless. The high majority are either lost, don't know, or have something remaining they need to do. The latter when the job is done, they are gone.
The very few problematic ones are something else.
And in any event, excepting the last group, all they will do is startle the daylights out of you..

My friend Don says that he takes trips out of his body all the time. I asked Don how he knows that he's traveling out of his body, and he says that he knows that he is. When he leaves his body, he can see himself lying there breathing and everything, and he just goes through the wall of the house he lives in and goes anywhere he wants. And quite often he runs into someone that's wandering around, and this particular person, it happens to be a person that was killed in a car crash a few miles from here. and when he found him, he said "You can see me? You can hear me?" And Don says "Yes I can hear you and see you." And the guy in the crash says that he hasn't been able to get anyone to hear him and they are ignoring him.
Don tells him that he died in a car crash, and he's dead, and the guy says, "I'm DEAD!!??" Don said he died in a crash and the guy said that he doesn't believe it. Don said he tried to convince him that he is dead but doesn't know it. Evidently he doesn't know that he's dead.

I thought of hiding a stereo speaker under my truck and hooking it up to my guitar amp during halloween. And I would put my Heil mic on it and have the bass all the way up and the reverb on, and when the trick-er-treaters come by and say
<span style='font-size:17pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>BLUUULULULU</span></span>
And of course I would be in the bedroom peeking through mostly closed drapes and laughing my behind off.

This is the interesting part. If you had a copy of the Journeys out of the Body book, the way he explains it is the same for everybody. When you are out of your body, there is something like an umbilical cord that's between your shoulders. And the other end is hooked to your body. (a spiritual one that can stretch to infinity)
And when you are out of your body, and your body gets ready to roll over, or even if you are sleeping on your hand and it goes numb, or if you are getting ready to wake up, this umbilical cord will snap you back into your body.
And Robert Monroe figures that this umbilical cord won't be there when you are dead.
