Often when I post something of high $ value on this site, I seem to attract scammers. I think they have a way of electronically scanning the ads and look for higher value items.

It goes like this.. I get an email from someone who provides a first and last name. The suspect usually has poor spelling, and writes in a lingo that is similar to the Nigerian scammers: "Vry good to meet your acquaintenace" etc, etc... Never a call sign.

The suspect will request price, description, etc, because they never really read the ad to begin with. That is why I think they are using software to "scan" for items of high value.

After responding, they will tell you they're overseas, and will have someone else (colleague) in the states send a cashier's check and they will arrange for shipping. They won't even try to negotiate a better price. Here is the actual email:

Nah, tell them to go ahead, and when the check arrives, turn it over to the authoritizes... mail fraud, forgery, etc.... but don't send anything out, and never try to cache it! You'll think it's good because the banks will just hand the money over before they're done checking it, then when it's found a forgery, the bank will demand their money back FROM YOU.
