View Full Version : What makes liberals and Democrats so wonderful?
In a renewed spirit of happiness and love, let's expound on the virtues of the left. The liberals, progressives, progressive liberals, Democrats, Greens, and yes, even those hated Socialists. You know you love them. Can you count the ways?
For one, for all you righties out there, imagine a world without a voice counter to your own. Superman had his Lex Luthor and his kryptonite. Batman had the Penguin. Spiderman had that crazy guy who was trying to make a Sun in his basement. Life is too boring without a "nemesis", right?
There are so many virtues: Compassion, sympathy for the downtrodden, carrying out the work of the Lord in helping others to better themselves and get a leg up in the world. They are creative, artistic, generous, entreprenurial, happy natured (well, except for Strom Thurmond), educated (believe in education), and sexually liberated. They are fun to be around, know how to party, yet believe in service and what YOU can do for your country.
Yes, I know 99% of the replies will be attempts at refuting all of these points, and suggesting additional reasons why the left is horrible, wrong, and evil. But, just remember, the left is here to stay, the right has had it's little dance in the sun, and the sun is starting to set. So, even if you don't like the left, get used to them. Or, move to...hmmm, where do all the right wingers move to in this world?? Maybe Pakistan? http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Why would you think this post would get anything other than partisan reactions? Give it up guys, agree to disagree and get over the fact that not everyone will agree, nor do they all fit neatly into a little sterotype. This bit is getting old, from both sides. Argue the issues, not what you believe someone else is, thinks, or does.
And, as always, I must tell you that the mainstream Democratic party does not represent 'liberal' philosophy (definition available below.)

Socialism-system in which the government controls production and distribution of goods and wealth and services in a country.
Ex. healthcare all pay for it regardless of use,(high taxes paid for it) controlled by state regulation.
Communism-a theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members of society.
Ex. Healthcare all own it, all use it without any payments, all provided by the state with rigid control.
Capitalism-Economic system in which goods and services are produced, exchanged and owned by individuals with minimal governmental regulation.
Ex. Healthcare pay as you go, means can be and are controlled by private individuals and corporations, minimal government involvement. (taxes paid but not nearly to the extent of a socialist system)
(healthcare is just the easiest and quickist example)
Check the Govt regulation / ownership parts.

Quote[/b] ]A conservative wants to conserve Energy, Live Under A Rock and Expect the Government to make all #Decisions but will support them tooth and nail! #
A Liberal wants the Liberty to think for himself and Not be bound by what the Government wants him to think and say! #He Longs For A Better America!
Conseratives do not want the government to make decisions about thier lives. Conseratives want minimal government involvement in thier lives, lower taxes and less social programs to encourage people to take care of themselves leaning more toward a capitalistic system. Yes more socially conserative but more capitalistic.
Liberals- Generally want more government involvement in thier lives, Higher taxes, more government social programs to take care of the people and government involvement in business therefore leaning toward a socialist system that removes Liberty from peoples lives
Yes more socially liberal but more socialistic.
Bottom line, your tag line is backwards.
I consider myself a conserative although not replubican
