How about that resounding Bush victory in November?
Democrats, listen up!
"Neener neener!"
I don't know what gave me more joy --- Seeing Bush win, or seeing the anti-Bush crowd getting all weepy. I'll have to get back to you on that one.
Give America credit. We saw through Kerry's bullcrap and sent him packing. He can go back to Taxachusetts where he can go about the business of wasting taxpayer money.
I'm actually enjoying the Dim-ocrat's whining and demand for an Ohio recount. It will give them a chance to be crushed and defeated again! OH BOO HOO! I love to see these people suffer.
It would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much healthier for them to admit defeat and move on, BUT THEY CAN'T. They WON'T.
Look Dummycrats -- We didn't buy what you were selling in 2000, and we didn't buy it this year either. Time for a new plan, eh?? EH???

It'd be nice if we could attach a name [or a call] to the comment.
Unfortunately, I guess we don't have that opportunity.
Now is the time for everyone, Republican, Democrat, or Independent to come together for the benefit of the nation. #
Yes, it was a bitter, hard-fought campaign, with plenty of acrimony on both sides of the aisle. #
However, comments such as the above typify the small-mindedness which has served to DIVIDE the country in time of crisis, instead of unify.
Let's get past it and move on.
And, I'm giving my name.

I seem to remember Stevie boy posting numerous times that his fellow republicans should not gloat about there win. Hmm wonder what happened to can't we all get along huggie boy? A certain word comes to mind starting with an H and ending with an E.
And you call 2 percentage points a "resounding" victory?
I certainly voted for the smarter, more qualified candidate - Kerry. Just cause Bush won doesn't mean he is the better candidate.
Since you want to rub our face in it, let me just say that I still think Bush is a liar, stupid, a fake, an a wimp. I still think he will go down in history as our worst president!
Oh and how about those Baltimore Ravens!
HAW!
Hey Willy, I didn't see you on the football field today. Which one was you? Yes, the Ravens sucked today. What a choke! I'm glad I can beat 'em up here, because everyone around this town gives me funny looks and points to the fact that most of their Pro Bowl players have been injured most of the year. But I think even with their third stringers and several ringers from the cheerleading squad, they SHOULD be able to beat the Bungles, who can now proudly boast ONE win in 14 years against a winning team on the road. See you in 2018 for the NEXT one. HAW!!! Yer preaching to the choir here, OM. The Ravens don't belong in the playoffs this year, and it would have been a travesty if they backed into it somehow.
If this wakes them up and makes them address their weaknesses in the offseason (unlike LAST offseason), so much the better!
In spite of all that, I still don't see the Bungles getting a whiff of a playoff game of their own in MY lifetime. Sorry. Just my (and everyone else's) opinion. Cincy's a nice city, though. Big Red Machine, and all that.... Just not a football town.
Oh, back to the subject at hand.
Yeah, I wasn't gonna gloat about Kerry's embarrassing defeat. (If you think about it, he choked worse than the Ravens!) But the goofy liberal blowhards like Garry Trudope, Airhead "Boondocks" McGruder, Michael Bore, and some of our misguided QRZ brethren are all barking AGAIN about recounts, stolen votes, and voting machine fraud. They just could NOT take defeat and crawl back in their little holes.
So I thought I'd enjoy a little chest thumping of my own. Gotta tell ya, it feels good. To AA0CX, sorry chum. Not trying to divide the nation. The LibDems already beat me to it.
So how about that 2004 Presidential election, huh? WOOOHOOOO!!! Pawty party! Pawty pawty! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I have to disagree - Cincinnati is a huge football town. Even after having one of the worst franchise records over the last 10 years we still sell out every game. There are winning teams around the league that don't have the support we have here.
Oh and by the way we have been to the superbowl twice - both great games, just happened to have had to play Joe Montana both times!
And on the politics I havn't seen any liberals posting anything much - looks to me like you are just being an obnoxious winner (with all due respect) http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Better an obnoxious winner than obnoxious loser (NOT referring to you, Bill).
Maybe I'm guilty of taking too much of my political commentary from the Funny Papers (Doonesbury, Boondocks, etc), where they REALLY get heavy handed. But what's political commentary doing there anyway??
Really? Bengals were in the Super Bowl?? Was that back when they wore leather helmets and used a square ball?
I'M KIDDING!!!!
Look, what you need to do is hope the Bengals move to some no-account, loser, cowtown midwestern city like Des Moines (sorry, Indianapolis is taken), then you can get a NEW team with a NEW owner in a couple years -- if the NFL takes enough pity on you. (Worked for Cleveland.) Then maybe you'll have a chance to see your team in the playoffs. (Well, THAT didn't work for Cleveland.) Ain't happening with the jokers you have running the team now.
Aw phooey... We already KNOW the Super Bowl is gonna be the Squealers and the Iggles. Why even play the rest of the season?

Gordo asks why I found the yarn about 13 year old Gordo, a 17 year old girl, and a bottle of booze disturbing.
Re-read my post for a full explanation, dood. I thought I spelled it out. To say it another way, if that will help, from the point of view of a 13 year old boy, bagging a 17 year old girl is a real score. High five time! But from the point of view of an adult, what's the deal with a high school senior who gets drunk and does the nasty with a 13 year old junior high kid? At that age, four years is a big gap. And the difference between a 13 year old and a 17 year old is cavernous. One has to wonder about the mentality of such a 17 year old girl.
That's all assuming it's a true story, and I admit I have my doubts. Smells a little like another whopper posted for trolling purposes. But if such a thing is true, I feel sorry for the girl. She must have had some SERIOUS problems. Any of you who are parents should be nodding in agreement right about now.
Again, assuming your tale is true -- for you would NEVER troll -- when was your first encounter with a mentally stable girl? And who was the first one you "had" without first getting her drunk?

Gee davie, don't be such a touchy little right winger!
I remember once when an Elmer was helping me get my mechanical TTY machine set up. I was only copying about 50% of what he was sending me, and I kept saying "OK Reggie, this is better now. . . Alright Reggie, back to you . . . . etc." Well, using the nickname "Reggie" just about blew his top, and he was telling me so, in no uncertain words! The only problem was, I was NOT copying it on my TTY machine !
Well, he finally signed with me ( in a great rage, I can imagine ! ) and a few days later I received the hard copy from HIS machine in the mail !
You cannot believe how embarrassed and contrite I was over the situation when I finally saw how he was trying to correct me, and the amount of grief I had caused him!

Let's also not forget that this was a very close election, by no means a resounding victory, or a landslide. It was a slim margin which leaves us with a still deeply divided nation that had better search for some concensus if we're ever going to get anything done.
I voted against Bush, you can guess who I voted for, but you could be suprised who else I voted for. I don't ever vote party line, I vote my conscience based on as many facts as I can find.
So neener, neener, right back at ya Steve (referring back to the initial post), at least we know now that it's finally the official end of the Bush administration. Of course we've got four years or partisan politics to suffer through first (they all do that, politicians are all about the power play), but hopefully there will be a nice backlash from this nauseating wave of blind neo-conservatism that has seemed to be fashionable lately. All those Federal taxes you love to hate? It all comes from us and goes to you, so shut up and enjoy your #Tennessee Valley Authority electricity and your fancy highways that we paid for. .

Let’s talk about those values for a #minute. You and your Southern values can bite me because the blue states got the values over you #"Real Americans" every day of the #week. Which state do you think has the lowest divorce rate ? Well? Can you guess? It’s #Massachusetts, the #center of the gay marriage universe. Yes, that’s right, the state you love to tie around the neck of anyone to the left of Strom Thurmond has the lowest divorce rate in the #nation. Think that’s just some aberration? How about this: 9 of the 10 lowest divorce rates are #blue states, #and most are in the Northeast, where our values suck so bad. And where are the highest divorce rates? Michael Moore
Kathie Lee Gifford
Clay Aiken
Oprah Winfrey
Garry True-Dope and Airhead McGoofy

Don Imus
J-Lo and Ben AFLAC

Bill, Hillary, AND Chelsea
The jerk that writes the comic strip "Sally Forth."
Yeah, I could go on. But you gotta admit -- there are a LOT of people we can do without JUST FINE.

EFA:
This proves, exactly, what?
Nothing.
It is not an argument, it is a tautology -- nothing more than a restatement of well-known facts. These facts are:
Blue state per capita incomes are higher (lots higher) than red state per capita incomes. Blue state costs of living are also higher (by quite a lot) than red state costs. This insures that higher-income people will tend to stay in those states, while lower- and middle-income people tend to leave. Indeed, blue states are losing population, as recorded in this (http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/dhenninger/?id=110003942) August 2003 column by the Wall Street Journal's Daniel Henninger.
On the other hand, if you compare whole dollars, the supposed "inequity" doesn't look quite the same. California gets taxed for a total of about $255.8 billion. Alaska, New Mexico, and North Dakota, all together, take in $27.5 billion in federal spending, close to the amount ($25.3 billion) spent on Connecticut. Whom does California pay for? Connecticut or North Dakota?
If we assume that "subsidization" does occur, what would you, EFA, have us do as a nation to even out this "subsidization"? Get rid of the "progressive" income tax and implement a flat tax?
I'd take that deal in a Blue New York minute. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

The "index" is just a measure of how bad taxes are and regulatory restrictions are for starting a new business. By itself doesn't really mean a whole lot but it is interesting.
Does prove my point though that a lot of blue states are taxed too much so red states can dig themselves out of the hole.

According to Sound Politics (http://www.soundpolitics.com/), there is still a way for Gregoire to steal the election:
Quote[/b] ] Even if Republican Dino Rossi wins the hand recount of the state’s extraordinary governor’s race, a never-before-used provision in the state constitution could allow the Democrat-controlled Legislature to hand the election to Democrat Christine Gregoire.
Experts are unsure how to interpret the provision. But the state Democratic Party says it gives Democrats the ability to contest the results of the election before the Legislature.
The Legislature would hold a trial of sorts, like an impeachment hearing, with lawmakers voting on the final outcome, according to a Democratic Party lawyer.
Yeah, there's a good strategy for bringing everyone together... after losing three recounts (Gregoire is losing in the current one, too, with Rossi picking up an additional 28 votes according to the last figures, also available at Sound Politics (http://www.soundpolitics.com)), the Democrats will tell the entire state that the votes they cast don't count, that the Legislature will now pick the Governor.
Personally, I say they should go for it. It'll drive even more centrists and conservative Democrats to the GOP. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, too bad about that recount. It never happened because the bush campaign manager, who was also the Ohio Secretary of State in charge of the election and the vote count, blocked the recount. Now, why would someone do that if they were not worried about winning?

Maybe the Ohio Secretary of State will agree to recount the 2004 votes in 2008. That way if Kerry wins, he'll only be in office a few days -- long enough to be blamed for everything until the new person comes in office.

Look Dummycrats -- We didn't buy what you were selling in 2000, and we didn't buy it this year either. Time for a new plan, eh?? EH???
(snicker)
Out.
I also can't wait until the election. I can see it now, the media will once again proclaim a neodem victory, only to be brought to their knees by patriotic Republicans.
Hell has no wrath...................................
As being banned was not enough, a band of ZRQ wankers break in and kidnap a newly restored C Melody and, well face it, there's is hell to pay!!! Armed with nothing more than a box of reeds and a handy a tenor mouth piece that doubles as a duck call during hutting season, this mild manner W3SY transforms himself into the dreaded "Chicken Butt".
As the Butt Plane goes Putt Putt Putt, attack missions are flown into the land of ZED. Zed Land, where men are men, sheep are scared, a few folks still remember how to use a radio, and others think CW keys are high tech nut crackers (with wires), and (speaking of Nut Crackers) self respecting folks hear Hilliary talk and ask the question, "who the heck is that guy?"....................
The bird droppings will fly, striking fear into the hearts of mortal men......................... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Only the POPE can stop the horror and he won't, because STEVE IS THE POPE

Beware of where those huskey's go, and don't you eat that yellow snow (Frank Zappa)
Wonder what old Frank would say about Steve?
Beware of where those chickens fly, and keep your mouth shut when you face the sky................
Except for Hilliary, because let's face it. With all that crap she is talking trying to become president, who in the heck will notice a few select bird droppings.................

The usual suspect with nothing else to do. Give it a rest, the guy is banned, no matter how 'entertaining' you thought he was.
What is this, the replacement for the code/no code thread?
Good question...............
Nope, don't think Steve will ever replace the Code/No-Code debate.
However, do you honestly think any of Steve's post are any worst than a majority of those found on Ragchew?
Like many have pointed out before, If you don't like them, don't read them.
Funny think about Steve's old post, they're like a train wreck --- don't want to look but you just can't help it.

As we are about to enter the 2008 Silly Season, where men are men, sheep are scared, and self respecting folks hear Hilliary talk and ask the question, "who the heck is that guy", Obama (not to be confused with Osama) yell out, hey, that's Chelsy's Mama while Bill is busy trying to avoid the entire mess.....................
Did you ever think about starting an internet site or make some bumper stickers up for "F.T.H.P.R.T.D.A.L.A.R.A.C.", a non-profit organization dedicated to helping folks think for themselves........
I would but it would be a rather large bumper sticker and it probably wouldn't make much of a difference. At the risk of sounding bitter it seems that partisan politics is more fashionable than ever, and as much as I preach about those convenient labels that usually don't fit the more they seem to be bandied about. Sad really. (Sorry for the delay in response, I hadn't checked into this thread because I thought it was just another dredging up of old thread to re-ignite old arguments and so on.)
As far as Steve goes I don't think he really cares whether or not he could be "re-instated", not that I've talked with him but I doubt he really cares just based on his attitudes in the past. While I didn't always agree with him he at least had some sense of humor.
I will agree though that this thread certainly represents a more light-hearted conversation about political topics and could possibly serve to remind people that a REAL DEBATE DOES NOT INCLUDE NAME-CALLING, INSINUATIONS, ASPERSIONS, STEREOTYPES, ETC.; that is not a debate, that is an argument, and one that usually goes nowhere but downhill and serves no other purpose than ticking people off.
(Hard to believe this was almost 3 years ago, damn how the time flies.)
Brett.......... sometimes we need to revise a few of these old posts to remind folks of what has been.
Besides, anyone who quotes "Frank Zappa" needs to be heard.
