View Full Version : Kill the rabbit or bf?

I'm a recent ham, as the call sign reflects, and I need some suggestions on websites of where to get good and cheap equipment. The most urgent items are a low pass filter and a head set with mic.
My rabbit chewed through several wires, one of them belonging to the headset. I'd like to replace it as a Christmas present.
When my boyfriend is running 100watts it's difficult to watch TV. The screen goes white when he keys up, sound goes through, the whole bit. I know the solution is a low pass filter.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

headset and mic, check out www.heilsound.com - the BEST!

cheap radio, well, that is the eternal search. ranks right up there with the search for the meaning of life.

The RFI will not be cured by a lowpass filter, the problem is not harmonics, it is OVERLOAD. Check out www.arrl.org for tons of info, and then email w1rfi@arrl.org...

and as for the rabbit, perhaps rabbit stew.

Ham Radio Outlet (HRO) (http://www.hamradio.com)

and Amaetuer Electronic Supply (AES) (http://www.aesham.com)

Of course I'm sure others have their favorites too. Also both of these places sell used equipment I believe.

p.s. kill the rabbit, sucker punch the bf http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I like Texas Towers (http://www.texastowers.com/) . Why not just fix the wire?

rabbit chews on wires ?

move wires up where rabbit can not jump up to chew on them...might consider pulling teeth out of rabbit ...might consider getting another rabbit to keep first rabbit busy so he wont have time to chew on wires...what type of rabbit is this --- male or female ( look at bottom of feet to find out !! )

why? does the female have toenail polish? - unless it is a San Francisco rabbit.

No, rabbit is male, but his male parts have been removed. You would think that wouuld have broken him of chewing. He especially likes coax. Even after getting zapped a couple times he still goes back for more.

Rabbits are rodents and must continually chew or they will grow teeth like the ones on that great Monty Python movie.

I wonder if what you want is a band pass filter instead of just a low pass filter. Is there any way to raise the antenna or maybe get cable? I have had a bit of a problem swamping my neighbors satellite system.

They relocated their dish to the top of their house {after I pointed out the little disclaimer on the TV and satellite receiver about how they can not cause interference and must accept interference.} this cured the problem. I have lived here a lot longer than they have and have had my radio setup here over 18 years.

I have lots of those little two piece ferrite beads on things here in the house and have even put some on others folks things to try an make peace in the neighborhood.

What do you look for on the bottom of his feet to tell if it's he or she? Are you an expert on rabbits?

That was just plain mean. What if I posted a link to an Asian cooking website featuring dog stew?

- that would be great!

- remember, they're not just part of the family, they're also an emergency food resource!

- bulgogi, kagogi, are good but gigogi is best!

Was not meant to be mean.

Just joking around.

Rabbit is tasty though and it is a good recipie.

I mean, you can't cook the bf (legally that is). http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
