Code/No-Code.

Bush/Kerry.

New radios/Boat anchors.

Voice modes/Digital modes/CW.

Straight key/paddles.

Red Sox/Cardinals.

Less filling/Tastes great.

Is there any topic that Amateurs can all agree on?

David ,

That is a very good question . I think more than likely , the interest is still there , but that other things have taken presedense . Priorities change all the time .

Duh, copper wire makes good antennas. Everyone agrees to that. They may not agree if it should be solid, stranded, insulated, or not but they all agree it makes good antennas.

I am sure that one thing we amateurs can agree on in the USA is that we have the freedom to choose amateur radio as an interest.

Yes, of course.

We all love CW, ummmm Nooo that's not it.

Ok... I got it... We all love Contest. Errr that don't work either.

ok enough humor, yes, we all love radio as a hobbie. That one thing brings doctors, lawers, ero space engineers, office clirks and dishwashers and janators and so on together to have fun. The most unusual mix of people you will find anywhere.

TM,

Mr. WF7I would disagree with your observation. Of course, his taste may be different on this, OR it could be that he is blind in one eye and can't see out the other. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

The really great thing about ham radio is everyone can agree on what they want to agree on, and for those who like CW they do coded, those who like SSB do SSB, those who do AM do AM, and so on and so on..

I think we can all agree on the fact that ham radio is a great hobby, and is very diverse...

BBC:

I am not fat and I agree with the bumper sticker that says "I'm not a dirty old man, I'm a sexy senior citizen"!

However, I can't qualify for a senior discount at many restaurants. Have to get a few years older. But, have been an AARP member for a while.

Don’t feel bad Glen, at the rate the retirement age will need to be raised to pay for Social Security for us Baby-boomers, none of us will live long enough to be old.

Well, I missed being a "baby boomer" by two years (was born in 1944 and the "boom" started in 1946). My eldest daughter missed being a "baby boomer" by one year (she was born in 1967 and the "boom" ended in 1966).

As such, I am one of the "silent" generation which the media has labeled those of us who were born during World War II.

Me too, though I'm not sure how we got that "silent" tag.
Of course, since I once had a race shop across the street from a hospital, I tried to tune unmuffled engines as quietly as humanly possible after midnight.

Funny, I never noticed many of our generation as being too very silent, Glen. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif. I was born the same year you were and most of the places around here give Sr. discounts at 60 and several even give them at 55. A very few don't give the discounts until 65, but I couldn't afford to eat in most of those places even with the discount or a double discount for that fact for a couple. But you started earlier then I did, your daughter was born the yr we were married and our son wasn't born until 10 yrs later so he didn't even come close to being a baby boomer. He was just a booming baby http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
