CSS announces release of PacTerm and PkTerm 3.0 Preview 1, the Power of 3!

New release includes open source for snap-in DLL modems.

Muscle Shoals, Alabama. October 22, 2004: Creative Services Software announced today that they have released PacTerm 3 for Windows and PKTerm 3 for Windows for Preview. This new release includes a new user interface in a single window, a built in generic logging program, the MT63 soundcard mode, PSK 62.5 mode and TCP/IP support and much much more. But the best news for hams and MARS is that the new sound card modes just 'plug in'. This means a ham can create a DLL for any mode they please then put that DLL into the PacTerm or PKTerm folder and that new mode appears on the HF mode menu of PacTerm/PKTerm 3.

CSS has even gone one step further. Not only can modes be added dynamically, but the release includes a sample skeleton source for someone to create their own modem (HH_DUMB.DLL and source), AND include the FULL source code for the HH_MT63.DLL.

Hams and MARS users now have a guide and documentation on how to integrate their new soundcard mode with the Snap-in DLL technology in PacTerm 3 and PKTerm 3.

Support for hams and MARS users for writing the modes will come from Timewave, as they wrote the new soundcard modes and we worked together on the best way to integrate it into PacTerm/PKTerm.

And now both programs don't even require a TNC. There is a soundcard only mode that will work with the Rigblaster, MFJ units, Timewave's soon to be released Hamhub and homebrew interfaces.

PacTerm for Windows and PKTerm for Windows retails for $99.95 with upgrades retailing for $49.95. This includes one year free for telephone and email support, and unlimited free support at the message board at http://www.bbs.cssincorp.com.

Both programs include a 30 day full featured demo version, so hams and MARS users can try before they buy.
