Go here to see a new HF rig being developed.

I think the price will be around USD 13 to 14,000 !

why all the knobs, lights, and wizz-bangs? why not control it from a PDA and a serial cable? (RS232, USB...)

or one (maybe two better) ideas, add an ethernet port, control it from a network/workstation, or a Blackberry device, 802.11x, IR,.

Make it a TRUE SDR.

I don't even want to imagine what German technology and engineering would cost for such a thing.

Sure is pretty though.

Now that is a cool stealth idea.

I'll agree that it does look pretty, but looks and an over-inflated price tag do not a rig make.

I'd rather restore a good ol' boat-anchor #tube transmitter, receiver, and real linear amp
(no, definitely not the "Chicken Band" kind) and put it on-the-air on true AM modulation.

Just my 2¢,

Hi droolers,

Looks good to me, the solid state version of an old Hallicrafters 1KW (input) tranceiver, too bad I forgot the model number. The guy(s) who like restoring boatanchors should consider this one.

Forget the "leenyar" and go for the gold! Well, that is unless you happen to have a Collins S Line station with a KWS-1 amp. (;->)

S-Line with either a 30S-1 (2Kw) or 30L-1 (1Kw). The KWS-1 was not an amp...it was the complete transmitter that matched the 75A-4.

they would have to get it FCC Certified B4 allowing it to be sold in the US and really who has that kind of money anyway ?

Same people that have the money to buy the Yaesu and Icom $10,000+ rigs! http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And I AIN"T one of them.................especially with 7 kids, 5 still at home http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I could buy one of the Icom's or Yaesu's but i see no rig worth $10 grand when it doesn't even have cruise control and air conditioning

I did not find the picture very intriguing,I don't think I would be tempted at 1/4 the price.

First of all 6dB far too much power. 600 watts for an exciter is a heat generator, transistors and heat is not a compatable combination.

Second I find it has far too many push buttons and not enough knobs to twist. If a rig is going to have bells and whistles I want to be able to adjust the parameters to MY operating habits, and not have a Binary choice of what some else thinks it should be,that may be fine for inexperienced appliance operators, but only the newbies with lots of dollars and no sense would find it appealing.

That having been said I would like to see the Technical Spec's and how they measure up in a Lab setting, that is the proof of the pudding.

BTW for todays standards the display looks marginal also, but a real one on the bench or operating on the desk, can determine if it is worth 10K+.

The Germans ,like the Japanese have continued to expand their Technical Expertise, unlike the US, so the actual operating specs may be spectacular.

OF course put a UAW sticker on it and Americans will buy any thing over 10K. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
