Many of you may have seen pop ups for free ipods, tvs, and computers. While a lot of this is all garbage one company called Gratis Network (which owns freeipods.com, freeflatscreens.com, freedesktoppc.com) is legit. The way they work is you sign up for a free trial offer (the ancestry.com offer is good) and right before the trial ends you call up and cancel and your account gets credited. Then depending on the item have a certin amount of friends do the same thing and whalla- a free ipod, computer or tv. They basiclly get commission from the company you are signing up with.
They are slow on shipping from what I have heard but hey its free (the shipping is free too).
I learned about this from some friends of mine who did this.
Here are the links if you would like to try it:

"If it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is" #applies here. # There is always a catch in there somewhere. #Read the fine print. #No one gives away anything like a TV for free. #Free means to me, absolutely free, no strings attached. #Have a good day anyway. # #Ben.. # http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Not to mention they get info on you that they sell to put $$$ in their pockets. And in the end you end up with more spam.
