Mt. St. Helens is about to spout lava if the old Athapascan gods are not appeased. #They demand sacrifice. Someone must jump into the crater. List your nominations here. #I must exempt myself from the list, however. #To paraphrase Abe Viogoda in "Joe vs. the Volcano:"
I cannot go. #It is my job to hope and pray for Amateur Radio.

There is a commercial on TV for some birth control pill, and while the spiel is going on how great it is there are a couple of teenny boppers in the back ground singing "there she goes"repeated several times. The impression the commercial seems to create is the "SHE" is a professional and "she" is really getting her money's worth out of the product..... http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Several years ago someone threw some nude pictures of Janet Reno into the lava pit at Mt. St. Helens.
There was a mighty tremor, a whimper and then peace until just recently. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Now if you were to throw Michael Moore into the molten

explosion would blow the earth off of its orbit and create
a severe danger to some innocent asteroid. Bummer!

What mini-farms? Not many of those left anywhere in that area. One thing that hasn't changed in the Omaha area since you were last there, they are still working on the streets and freeway systems. There was a news item that I didn't pay much attention too but the gist of it was some of the interconnected street improvement projects were something like 25 yrs old and still weren't close to being complete. The changes in the area are amazing. The "L" street interchange on I-80 has moved and changed places who knows how many times. I am not sure anyone knows where it used to be located when it was originally put in. Come on back and visit some time, things they are achanging up there.
And winters haven't changed much either, they still get a tad nippy here in the heartland that time of year.

I thought "mini-farm" was the politically correct term for "garden." http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
I think the Volcano would be forever stilled if we throw in CRAPPY CARTOONISTS who pollute my Funny Papers with comics that either preach heavy-handed political or religious messages, or just plain are not funny.
Let's send one-way tickets to Washington state to Aaron McGruder (Boondocks), Garry Trudeau (Doonesbury), Johnny Hart (B.C.), Francesco Marciuliano (Sally Forth), Cathy Guisewite (Cathy), and Jim Scanarelli (Gasoline Alley).
And if that doesn't work, I have a few more in reserve.
Even if it DOESN'T silence the Volcano, toss their big butts in.

David, a "Minnie Farm" is where Mickey found his mate.
She was picked fresh from the garden, but I don't think
Mickey wants to sacrifice her to a volcano! #I think he
lavas her far more than that! After all, they are not
"PUMICE"!~
Gary, #it sounds like you know your way around Omaha.
As a kid I didn't get much chance to go into town
except to visit my other aunt and uncle and cousins.
Oldest cousin grew up to be a Nebraska State Trooper
and was stationd at Grand Island until he died of
Cancer at a young age-about 30 years ago. #
My aunt and uncle who were like a second set of parents
to me had two farms. The main one was near 72nd and Bennington near the North Omaha Airport. This is where
their house was. #There were still Apple trees covering
about five acres of the old farm place in 1987.
That farm was directly across the street from a SAC
Radar base. #That base had been converted to a Technical School sometime previous to my visit.
Their other farm was on the Missouri River about
10-15 miles north of the N. Omaha airport. #I got
lost trying to find it. #Also access was only over private property and the Neal Family had passed away and
their home was also gone. #
I've got a bunch of memories that I will always cherish
from those places and times in my youth.
Say hi to KD4LEI who has just had a baby and is serving
over at Offutt AFB. #If it were up to me and I had the $$
I would be up there traipsing over my old haunts in
about as long as it would take to pull a travel trailer up there. #That trip will have to wait for a while. #http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
All of my relatives up there have either passed away or
scattered. All that is there now are great memories.

I hardly know my way around Omaha at all. I get up there rarely, a few baseball games, the zoo, some meetings that's about it. We have been in Lincoln since moving here from Iowa in 1977, so I have gone through Big O quite a few times traveling back and forth on family business and vacations. I just know what I hear on TV or from friends and from what I see on infrequent visits or pass thru trips. I do know Boys Town is now pretty much considered to be in town now. The metro area with the suburbs and all has gotten huge compared to what it used to be. To the west and north the areas around Blair and Gretna are getting very close to 'town' any more. Once you get up off the flats from the Platte River on I-80, it is almost continuous city from there to the Missouri. If I remember correctly, there is a time frame in place to convert I-80 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes all the way from Omaha to Lincoln. It aint near as much fun around here as what you remember but then where is it usually?
Later, gotta go watch Jeopardy
