Got in a QSO with some 5's and 4's on 3.753. Slow paced pretty intelligent and really nice folks. Moved up to 3.875 and joined a QSO with a large group. Same conditions. Is this a growing trend on 80? Wouldn't it be great?

I need to get me an 80 meter antenna (or make one) so I can get on 80 meters, I think it would be a lot of fun.

Did you post in the wrong thread? What the hell does that have to do with 80 meters? Just curious.

Also, here's something shocking for some of you; after more than 20 years on CB, and mostly off of it over the last five years or so, I hooked it up and found lots of nice people to talk to again. I've always said that the stereotypes about CBer's did not represent the majority, now it's been re-proven to me by actual conversation that didn't contain rampant profanity, 10 billion watts, or key down competitions; there was actual conversation, and intelligent conversation at that. Perhaps there is hope for the future of both, since I've heard 80 meters be as bad or wrose than CB many times. Best of luck to us all.

Hate to be picky, TEY, but don't you mean "75 members?"

I bet there are 80 members in some of the 75 meter roundtables.

See my second post. My member [brain in this usage] was half asleep at the time of the post. I did start another topic with the correct title. Almost typed 800 meters. Reminds me of the time a friend of mine showed a cb'er his 2 meter radio and the cb'er wanted to know where the two meters were! [?] The same friend was a salesman and relished the act of trying to sell newbies frequency grease and powdered megacycles. Go figure. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I have been a ham for nearly 23 years and I have found this about 75 meters. you will meet good people there and you will meet the not so good people there. The same thing can also be said about 10/15/20/30/17/2/6/40 And anywhere else you choose to meet. We should be delighted that the band(s) do have a large following and I have never found it hard to join in whenever someone get's on to as subject that I want to add to I say something. That's the unique thing about amateur radio You can find just about any subject from fishing to autoracing politics, etc I exercise the VFO if I don't like what I'm hearing.

It's bad to be "Mr. Whiney britches" and condemn a whole radio spectrum simply because we don't like the subject matter being discussed by a certain group. Boy, that smacks of socialism.
