Going to an Emergency Room at night In the USA?
Well it looks as if you require a special study, MRI, CT or general radiology your films may be "read" by a doctor in India, Australia, or Israel, if it really is a doctor!
With all the jobs going overseas, our own citizens losing their jobs. Now a growing number of hospitals using tele-video for out-of country Diagnosis of your procedures!
Consults from other areas is sometimes done in special cases where expertise is elsewhere, but this is looking like a growing and common practice.
What about Medical Malpractice if one make an error in impressions? I have several questions in additional to that one.
What do you think?
The Doctor is in--But not in the USA (http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/9895165.htm?1c)
No offense, but this is old news. One of the network TV "expose" shows (nightline, 48 hours, etc) talked about this at least a year ago. They can get a team of physicians from Bangalore to review your heart condition via satellite for the same fee as one specialist in the US charges.
Also, your tax return information is often outsourced to India if you go with a big company like H&R block to do your taxes. There are huge issues with identity theft as we are trusting the 3rd world with all of our vital stats.

W7FI, yes exactly it is old news, and thanks for bringing that up.
I was hoping perform a 'refresh' during this time of putting american citizens out of work. Actually since OPIC began in the 80's and other programs this practice has been growing ever since.
Now we have Docs who are already busy with their day jobs trying to "sqeeze us in" for a diagnostic readings? Will we be 2nd 3rd or more down on the list? There people should come first as with ours.
But it's like energy costs, gasoline etc, we just don't seem to react in this country, we just keep on "paying and accepting changes, at the cost of our own. At least if we end up having to pay we should at least try fighting back and keeping the jobs in the USA.
I spend 27 years in Xray, digital Xray, installs, repair, cal etc including tele-video and made the comment years ago that one day our radiologists will be reading everyones films but ours, as a joke, so here we are.
Yes the old news is about 20-25 years old and growing stronger each day until the only ones working will be others, I guess we'll be at the beach or riding the ski lifts.

For anyone interested in this and related topics, check out CNN's Lou Dobbs new book, "Exporting America". I read some of it at the local Barnes 'n Noble yesterday. I think he still has his segment on CNN (although I don't have cable so I don't watch it anymore). Lots of scary and sad stuff in there. Basically if China ever gets pissed, our economy is in deep doo-doo (& Walmart would shut down).

gee If wal-mart ever did shut down, look at all the old MOM & POP stores that could open back up and make America work ( again ) !!
That would be both good & bad.
We really need to find a way to be totally self-sufficient again.
What do you call a country that exports its raw materials for manufacture to another and then buys the manufactured goods back? A Colony.
