And the other day it stopped, just as mysteriously as it started. The article said it was comming from north of Prescott, Arizona. What's out there? Hmmm, the 'ghost town' of Jerome. Maybe it's ghost signals. There have been stories about 'top secret' govenrment activities in the abandonded mines under the town. The plot thickens.......

I commented on this on the RFI mailing list. The frequencies shown are all harmonics of 87 Hz, a frequency commonly used in monitors. My guess is that a ham in that area had his radio on 7240 and monitor noise was induced or otherwise coupled into the transmit audio, perhaps via hookup to a computer.

Hey! FP! How'd ya weather Ivan the Terrible?
Well lets see; FCC's High Frequency Direction Finding Facility in Maryland, which had narrowed down the signal's source as somewhere east of Prescott, Arizona.
and whats east of Prescott ? Is;broadband over power line (BPL) field trial in the Cottonwood, Arizona, area . I think we can connect the dots...........

There was talk of the wierd signal on the Saturday night Coast to Coast AM show. I didn't catch all of it but it was interwoven with talk of using RF to modify and control weather. The rest is here... http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2004/09/18.html

Hum? Did you say "Hum?" You mean like the infamous Taos Hum? The 'hum' some folks hear constantly around Taos, NM, and that has been attributed variously to UFOs, ghosts, secret government projects, blondes, or four too many Dos Equis. We hear it around here, too, only here we recognize it as being distant irrigation pumps. Whoops! Didn't mean to let the hum -- er, cat -- out of thg bag.
By the way, I had heard about the extremely effective capabilities of the FCC's HFDF facility. I am critically disillusioned. "Somewhere around Prescott, AZ?" I thought they claimed they could pinpoint a location in ten seconds, down to the last ten yards. Of course, I doubt they ever turn the facility on, actually, as who the heck do they DF? Not much work for them. They sure don't DF the CBers or Freebanders.

Look Yall listen up fer a minute. This thing is bigger than a bread box, ya hear!!.
Yall are coming up with common answers, you are not thinking about the fact that it could be a signal from a satellite being refelected by a ground station, or it could be a signal from terrorists, what's to say it aint?
Me, I don't know what it is, but I did hear some sounds that could have been distorted voice from a scrambler.
It could also be sounds from the dead in the ghost town.
What ya think of that?
Ma bring me nother shine!!!
