Hello All Fellow Hams,
For yourself or ham group you may want to consider a free dot tk domain name.

Now if you go to qsl.net you can get free hosting and if you go to http://www.dot.tk you can get a free domain name.

It works quite well and is 100% free. see my site as an example- http://www.kc2mjc.tk

and my club site- http://www.w2nrc.tk

The URL's all worked for me. I just tried again. The club site takes a very long time to load on DSL so may appear blank on dial-up.

Did you read the fine print? The Domain name is only good for ninety days and then you must buy it. It is only a forwarding URL also and is really an advertising gimmick. They do what they say, but put you and your phone number, which is required and checked for accuracy, on several mailing lists they also sell. Read the fine print. All of it, because they hide some goodies in with the boring.

While Dot.tk is a redirector domain it is still a domain. You must have at least a few visitors monthly or you may lose the domain (its doesnt really happen). WHEN SIGNING UP CLICK FREE REGISTRATION NOT PAY!

cjb.cc is the best for free hosting...qsl.net's system is overtaxed, mail qsl.net a donation and if possible get off their server, they really work hard to keep it up and dont take it as granted....

i hardly use my domain so i never bothered leaving qsl.

i havent gotten spam from dot tk (besides occasional newsletter type stuff)

its free...if you dont like it pay for a domain.

While I think this young mans intentions are fine, he seems to fall for all of these free gimics. In another thread he claims to know the truth about the free iPod but states his "friend" told him.

QSL.net system is overtaxed but it is faster then what is offered here.

I moved my clubs site from QSL.net to a faster/better webhost and it costs very little. The important thing here is that for 6 bucks a month the pictures finally load as they should.

I paid for two years of the .TK (K8YS.TK) name resolution, and then I found a web server to host my domain. When I tried to contact support at dot.tk to get help to set up the DNS and get it to point to my host, they are ignoring me.

This was of course before I found that a .US name is half the price of a .TK name.

And now, I cannot even get them to redirect the k8ys.tk to my k8ys.us domain.

so WARNING WARNING - DO NOT GIVE THESE CROCKS MONEY!

FREEDOMAIN.TK domains expire after 90 days when less then 25 users have been to your website.
