Heads up guys and gals yet another scammer trying to scam me and my rig... here it is in its entirety...

We are interested in buying your above mentioned IC-706 Mk II G at advertised rate. Icom will be picked up from your location for onward shipping to London. Cost and modalities of shipping to be born by us.

Payment for the purchase is by check through a debtor in US. The debtor owes us higher than our purchase. He will therefore be sending you a check for $5,000 to cover the cost of our order, as well as the Shipping costs.

On receipt of the check, you will cash and deduct the cost of our order .The balance you will send as we would instruct you to the Agency that will ship the Icom to us. If this arrangement suites you fine, please send us your address where to send the check, as well as the name to be on it. Also send us your phone number for easy communication.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

Best Regards
MICHAEL CAMPBELL.

Starting with the top IP, it was CA, then NY, then the UK, then, catch this; 82.128.3.139 is Nigerian.
RIPE query (http://www.ripe.net/perl/whois?form_type=simple&full_query_string=&searchtext=82.128.3.139&do_search=Search)

Only gets better and better..

Has anyone tried playing along with one of these scams? Would the police be willing to wait for the scammer to show up with the fake cashier's check? One could at least take photos of the person who shows up, and get the license number of the car. Of course, I'd prefer not to give directions to my house to a crook, but they can look us up by call-sign anyway and used Map It, or a similar program.

Yeah; go search on "Scamming the Scammer". There's a really funny story about a guy who sold a P-P-P-Powerbook (you'll understand after you read it).
