Their luck was nil so they decided to go to the pier a bit
down the beach from them. When they got to the pier they noticed that it was a long, long walk to the end
where they wanted to fish. #They decided that to help pass the time as they perambulated to the end of the pier that they would count the slits between the planks
on the pier. #Well, they became so intent at counting those slits, instead of watching where they were going,
that they fell off of the end of the pier. An observer of
the scene rescued them from the briney and asked them

I had an uncle who loved Schlitz. Woeful brew. So far as Schaefer is concerned, Trenton deserves the stuff. Probably left behind by the Hessians. Not a whole lot better across the R.
Alas, PA is filled to overflowing with some truly terrible brews (try Iron City some time; rust your pipes for sure) but they also have a wonderful brewery in Adamstown (about ten miles south of Reading) that holds an incredible micro-brewery festival every June; I was a regular until diabetes reduced me to a few six packs a day to keep my sugar in check.

My vote for the worst beer ever was Bullfrog Beer. As far as I know it was only available along the Mississippi River in the Iowa, Illinois, Missouri area. That stuff made even the generic beers taste good. Nasty but the price was right; well on 2nd thought, maybe it was a bit overpriced at about the same cost per case as the cost of a 6-pack of good beer.

In Rice Lake Wisconsin there is a small hometown brewery that bottels and sells Brunings beer. This stuff is even worse than Wisconsin club beer.
You can actually see the hulls from the hops in it. But at $1.50 a case (not including deposit) an awful lot of it got consumed when I was in Vocational school there in the early 70’s

I don't know if Oly Light is even brewed anymore. I had it in 1977 when I was up in Missuola visiting a friend at The University of Montana. Oly Light was the most inexpensive beer in Montanna at the time (maybe they were phasing it out and dumping stock). It was worse than all the beers that people made fun of on the east coast, made them seem like Becks or other super premums! To be fair, I never had an actual Oly.

I remember when most of the 19 bars in my little Wisconsin town had Grain Belt beer on tap and Leinenkugel’s sold for $0.90 a six pack. I gave a fellow $20.00 to buy a bunch of it for me and my pals. He sat in the bar from around sunset, approx. 7:00 pm until around 11:00 pm, drinking up all our money then when he finally came out he tossed us one six pack.
When my dad found out he was totally torqued about it. Not so much that I was illegally getting beer for my friends and my self but because I had so foolishly wasted that much money. He said he would have bought it and we could have had a party at our house.
My pals wouldn’t have gone for that because he would have asked their parents if it was OK for them to attend.

"Now now men, we'd like to introduce you to our beloved shipmate, Mr Ralph O'Rourke. Ralph will surely be stopping in and giving you his personal greetings sometime after we sail."
(Attributed, almost certainly incorrectly, to Capt Mighty Mouse of Mobil Oil [any of you sailed with Mobil in the 60s and 70s will know who I mean.])
That aside, George you beat me to it with the Shaeffer jingle. My mother and grandmother listened fervently to Mets games on the radio when I was a child (we had no TV until I was 11 in 1972 or 73) and of course Shaeffer was the main sponser for the NY Mets back then.
Pabst . .. interesting story. They used to have a brewery on South Orange Av in Newark NJ. They closed that place down while I was working nearby in 1985 or 86. They had two MILLION gallons of beer in the tanks, and no "practical" way to get rid of it. So they dumped it into the storm sewers.
I remember driving through there for days smelling the beer and seeing the bums facedown in the gutters with cups on the end of string and such scoooping the beer out of the sewer through the grates. Of course plenty of them were just drunk or hungover (and I'm sure one or two dead). What a disaster that was for that part of Newark.
I understand Lone Star is in fact the national beer of the Republic of Texas. Remember as you think over that line, I was W5ATX . . .
Whoever mentioned leinenkugel (or however it's spelled) thanks. I needed to think about kugel. Ugh.
Ok, so now I'll be thankful I've been clean and sober for over 20 years and let the rest of you fellows have at it with VØMIT. (NOT the club station of the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, thankyouverymuch.)

Actually, I like Iron City. When I started my beer drinking "career" i was in nearby New Castle, PA, and started drinking it. It was my beer of choice. It's actually pretty good. It's not all watered down like a lot of the sissy stuff is.
As far as Genny not having any kick, try Genny Ice sometime.
It's like regular Genessee, with a little more of a bite. 5.9%, in fact. It has a pretty unique taste. If you start on it early, by late afternoon you will find yourself taking back all kinds of things you never owned. http://www.qrz.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Also try the Genessee Red Lager, good tasting lager for a good price.
